  1. @economics, I agree with you that Prof. Duflo and Prof. Banerjee may not be the best persons in the world to recommend me on my logistic skills. But as I metioned in my original post, I would want to work for the World bank after 1-2 years at JPAL. Do you think they could help If I wanted to work for the World Bank in a position like a country project coordinator? I really appreciate your response..
  2. I guess you are right. I was talking to My potential future CO-RA's who are already working on the Project and they say that Prof. Duflo and Prof. Banerjee come to India somewhere between 3-4 times a year.. Thanks a lot for your response though..
  3. @GymShorts Thanks for the response. The other option, I could have is a RA position at the Urban Institute (in the interview pool now). However, the thing is that I need to make the decision for PAL in a week. I would really appreciate any advice.
  4. @economics Thanks a lot for responding. The RA job is 50% working with survey/economic data and it is 50% managing about 20-25 surveyors and a data management firm. The principal investigators for my project are Dr. Duflo and Dr. banerjee and based on my conversations with them , I should be in contact with them atleast once in 15 days over the phone.
  5. Hi all, I was googling for information on Poverty Action Lab at MIT and found this is the only forum which discusses it. I hope some of you who are out here could help me out. I just was offered a job as a field research assistant in India and need to inform PAL by the end of this week. I would be working on a project under Profs. Duflo and Banerjee at MIT. I am very much interested in development economics and my ideal job would be working for the world bank. I was wondering if any one of you knew how good of a segway could this field RA position be to the world bank say after a year or two. Presently, I am a masters in public policy from the a top 3 policy school. Looks like this is the only community on web where I can get this sort of advice. I would greatly appreciate any advice in this regard.
