  1. i used barons and got 109. But be aware that the book has many spelling errors in essay examples.
  2. Unfortunately you cannot. I made the same mistake, hope that makes you feel better :)
  3. Congratulations guys! I did great, too: R:29 W:28 L:30 S:22 total=109 bigmoonstar - are you happy with the result?
  4. hm... I would propose a somewhat different solution to this problem - let ETS become a normal company and lose their "non-profit" status. Why should anyone work "non profitably"? It's just an illusion, nobody has a reason to work without profits. Instead, let them try to get the highest profits they possibly can, but also allow competition to appear. This would ultimately bring about better service, lower prices and more choice for all students and universities. You cannot just "demand" that they lower their prices. Price can (and will) go down only if the market makes it go down - in other words, more efficient competitors will push it down. Also regarding their ethics- well it's obvious that only those testing corporations that work ethically will be able to survive this competition and gain enough trust from their customers. Non profit company is an oxymoron. It is foolish to believe that this kind of business model is realistic. The foundations of the system needs to be changed, and the practices of ETS will naturally follow.
  5. Ok, so the most important thing is to prey. Can you tell us the exact prayer that worked for you?
  6. It would be interesting for all April 3rd test takers to post the scores they are expecting, so we can later compare them to the real results, and then see if we were good at predicting our scores. I'll start - I think that I am going to get 98. Please post your own predictions!
  7. heh, I messed it up too, i thought those were the pads... I guess I would still get few points on that one.
  8. Wasnt the question about "the most important thing that you LEARNED in your childhood" ?
  9. you can get to know more about their deeper thoughts and attitudes or you can find out more about their deeper thoughts and attitudes Except that, It's perfect! However I don't think that you wrote it by yourself. The essay is just too good to believe that it's author also wrote something like, "I am totally appreciated!!!"
  10. First, i have to say that while I just discovered this forum, I'm already very impressed by it's content and supportive members! You're doing a great job! Keep on rocking. I hope someone could rate my essay or at least give some comments, because I don't have a slightest idea about how high it might be scored by ETS. Here it goes; the topic is from the Barron's book - Would you prefer to work less or earn lots of money (not exactly, but you get the idea). Each individual has his own views on life, wealth and comfort. Some consider creating wealth a very important task in their lives. It's not unusual for them to spend most (if not all) of their time trying to earn as much money as possible. On the other hand, probably a larger (pro)portion of people tends to prefer having a lot of free time, thus choosing to work and earn less. This kind of people values their leisure much higher then the first kind. It should be noted, however, that this view might be considered stereotypical. It's not a good idea to strictly divide all people in two precisely defined groups, since we are all different. We usually perceive sharp dressed business people as a lifeless, boring creed, whose only purpose in life is to seek more and more profits, in a never-ending race. It's thought that they just can't relax and enjoy their time on the Earth, while second group, which prefers leisure to working, really knows how to take their time and appreciate the beauty of this world. While this can be true about some of them, I think that this view is rather biased. It can be the case that some people from the second group are actually trapped in an occupation which they just can't find themselves in. It is often said that someone has "chosen the wrong career", which can make his working time unsatisfying, unpleasant and sometimes even miserable. It is very probable that they would not have such a negative view on work if they had chosen to do something that is more interesting and engaging for them. On the other side, there are also people who are so happy with their work, that they would keep on with it even if they were not compensated. These people are the luckiest, especially if they are paid well. As for me, It would be the most fulfilling if I ended up doing something that I really like. If such a job would provide a stable financial situation or even an opportunity to gain wealth - that would be even better. If not, I would still choose the job I enjoy more, rather than the one that provides more money.
  11. I would love to join the group! I'm doing pretty well on the other parts of the test, but speaking seems to be the most challenging one! My skype ID is cane_nis
