  3. thank you so much everyone! i really appreciate all your thoughts! i think my final decision will be between LSE and Oxford :) .. waiting to hear back about funding as well. anyone in favor of cambridge (option b) at all?
  4. aumann, thanks for the info of these programmes. may i ask which programme you are attending now? i'm actually not a big fan of econometrics. i personally would prefer not to do the 1-yr eme despite its great reputation that it's the best and hardest master programme on the planet. comparing ox and cam, the 2-yr at oxford now seems more solid. or at least in applied micro and game theory.
  5. say i'd like to continue on a phd wherever i end up doing my master. is the 2-yr oxford mphil a slightly better choice given more time to focus on individual research? and in that case i'd also get to know the faculty more. cambridge is actually one year. would anyone say cambridge > lse? anyone knows how different (in terms of course materials) is the 2-yr oxford compared to other 1-yr programs? to deep.19 Type of Undergrad: Top 5 Liberal Arts College in US, BA in Economics and Mathematics Undergrad GPA: 3.6 GRE: 790Q, 400V, 4.5 Math Courses: Calc upto multi-var, Linear Algebra, Optimization (2 courses), Diff Eq, Abstract Algebra, Real Analysis Econ Courses: micro, macro, stats, 2 econometrics, advanced micro theory, game theory, intl econ, trade, finance theory, political econ, etc Letters of Recommendation: 2 econ profs (Princeton, Columbia), 1 math prof (Harvard), and 1 research supervisor Research Experience: 2 summer internships at two central banks, undergrad RA, independent study, did not finish senior thesis Teaching Experience: math tutor and grader Research Interests: i put intl macro in my SoP. but now it seems that i dont know about that anymore :S
  6. hello! i just got an offer for oxford! :) i also have offers from cambridge, lse (econ and eme) and ucl. i'm not very familiar with the uk master programs. who would be more likely to give funding? and if none of them provides funding, where would you go?
  7. Hi! I've received offers for LSE's MSc in EME and MSc in Econ, and Cambridge's MPhil in Econ (Option B). My goal is to eventually do a PhD (preferably in the US, but wouldn't rule out a possibility of staying longer in the UK). I am not sure about my research field yet, but certainly not metrics. However, i heard that the EME has a better reputation, esp in the UK, for prepping students for PhD programs in any fields. What do you think about their PhD placements of these programs? How likely is it to continue on a PhD at the same school? How does it look if you just pass without distinction? Would anyone prefer Oxford and UCL to these programs? Thank you so much in advance!
