  1. Thanks a lot for the reply. I was thinking of taking Bayesian Statistical Methods, Applied Prob. & Markov Chains. The grades won't be shown on my transcript at the time I apply but it still makes sense, right? Also, Stochastic Calculus is offered next semester, but I don't know if I can take these three together..
  2. Here is my profile. Type of Undergrad: B.A. in Economics (not well-known) Undergrad GPA: 3.8/4.0, 3.92 in Econ, 3.9 in Math Type of Grad: Master of Science in Economics and Social Sciences (Bocconi) Grad GPA: only 1 semester 28/30 (this grading system is quite weird) GRE: 800Q 500V 5.0AW Math Courses: All Calc sequence (all A's), Linear Algebra (A), ODE (B+), Abstract Algebra(B+), Mathematical Analysis (Real analysis I)(A-), Math for Econ(A), Probability and Statistics Theory (Grad)(A-) Econ Courses: Intro to Advanced Micro, Macro (all A's), Econometrics I-II (all A's), Advanced Econometrics(Grad)(n.a), Game Theory(Grad)(n.a), Monetary Policy(Grad)(n.a), Development Economics(Grad)(n.a), International Trade(Grad)(n.a), Independent Study (A) Other Courses: Analytical Writing(A-), Economic History(A), various language courses Letters of Recommendation: 1 LSE, 1 MIT, 1 Harvard, 1 Moscow State(Math) Research Experience: 1 year of independent study/ might start RAing this semester again Teaching Experience: Tutored intro to micro & macro for 1 year Research Interests: Econometrics, Monetary Policy SOP: My advisor found it very strong. Other: I am concerned about the B's in math. I'd appreciate your evaluations. Please point out my weaknesses as well so that I can try to fix them while I still have time.
  3. Hi, I'll apply for a Ph.D. to specialize in Econometrics, mostly time-series analysis. With what kind of a profile would I have real shot at top 25?
  4. I'd say you should choose Bocconi. Honestly, although the first semester course work seems quite irrelevant, with the second semester you start taking courses from MIT, Princeton, Harvard, Stanford, LSE PhD-holding professors (my current curriculum is the proof of it) and you begin to realize it was the right choice, not only because these professors have a high-level reputation but also because they really teach. So, if you want to go for a PhD, Bocconi is way ahead of Tilburg.
  5. I wonder if anyone got into a top phd program from Bocconi Econ Msc this year. If yes, please indicate Courses Taken: Recommendation Letters (professors): Your Average: Any prior contact with the schools applied to: Any writing samples: GRE: And also, I'd appreciate if those who got rejections shared their profiles as well.
