Hello,
I made this below sentence just for understanding purpose. I want to clear a grammatical concept. Can someone please help me here.
1) Jefferson, a young writer who claimed to be divinely inspired, turned the focus of English poetry in 1970 by writing hundreds of poetries on God and establishing a world renowned school of poetry.
Is the above sentence correct if I want to convey the below meaning:
He turned the focus by writing hundreds of poetries and (by) establishing a school.
In this 2nd sentence below ,I want to convey a different meaning by a little change. The meaning is:
Jefferson turned the focus by writing poems and (he) established a world renowned school. ( he didn’t turn the focus by establishing school).
My confusion here is that if I want to convey this meaning, Is the below sentence correct.
2) Jefferson, a young writer who claimed to be divinely inspired, turned the focus of English poetry in 1970 by writing hundreds of poetries on God and established a world renowned school of poetry.
I am having difficulties in distinguishing between these kind of sentences where I’ve to relate ( the parallelism of ) the verbs - “turned” , “established” ,"writing" and “establishing”.
Are there any grammatical rule or construction that I should be aware of so that I can be sure that verb “established” is parallel to “returned” or verb “establishing” is parallel to “writing”.
Or is it just by inferring the meaning that the sentence wants to convey, I should be able to relate the parallel verbs.
Thank You.
