Does any of them offer you financial aid? If yes, choose that one. If not, choose CMU for a better reputation.

Thank you so much CalmLogic! My goal is a PhD in scienctific computation. Since scientific computing is not a polular area, both schools have few professors specializing in this area. Both of them gave me full financial support so funding will not be an important factor. So if I want to find a teaching position after graduation, which school will help me better? According to the links, UBC seems to be a stronger research powerhouse, but their size is also bigger.

Dear all, I am really having a hard time to make a decision between UBC and McGill. In Canada, both of them have decent reputations and are located in great cities.
