  1. Any idea when toronto will send their next round of decisions?
  2. just got a reject from UBC. Never emailed to ask them. Those who have not got a reject should keep their fingers crossed now.
  3. Hey did you email UBC or did they send out the rejection on their own?
  4. Hey I applied a few weeks back by email and have not even recieved acknowledgement that they got the application. I did send the GRE - there is no harm.
  5. No idea - though UT does release rounds of results till fairly late (right through April)
  6. Waiting for the same - Are you waiting for doctoral stream or regular?
  7. Institution: NYU Program: MA Economics Decision: Rejected Notification date: 03/31 Notified through: Email Posted on GF: Yes Funding: - Comments: Nothing left to say
  8. That is true in my case. I am also waiting for UofT regular stream and UBC (slim chances). In case these three fail, I guess I would take BU over the European programs.
  9. Hey all, there are 2 admits on Grad cafe, has anyone here heard back??
  10. I don't think they have a particular deadline to reply by
  11. When is the deadline to reject/accept offers for Toronto regular stream?
  12. Not received it yet. Has anyone decided for sure that they will attend the program?
  13. Yale - Notified by email to check the website on the 10th of March. BU - Email on 5th of March NYU - still awaiting reply
  14. Does anyone know about their Masters program? placements in the private sector? PhD prospects in the US post completion?
  15. Sorry to hear that. I am not being able to gather enough courage and ask about my status.
  16. Wow, that is a surprise considering you have offers from Queens and UofT's MFE! Perhaps they anticipated that you wont accept theirs?
  17. It definitely would be :) Unfortunately, I do not have enough work-experience to apply to reputed MBA programs yet. I have worked for 1year + now but this is not a permanent job nor is it in the finance sector. Considering the fact that the UK (I did my undergrad here) job market is literally closed for me (yes because I don't have good enough high school grades!) , leaves only two options - 1) returning home (which I don't want to at this stage of my career) or 2) venturing into the North American job market (only possible by studying there). Therefore, I want to use this MA mainly as a stepping stone to gain jobs in North America and partially also because I feel I want to study some more Economics. Yep, mine is a complicated case!
  18. I understand that I would not be competing directly with MBA holders who would probably be campaigning for Associate Level jobs etc. My major worry however is whether I would even have a platform to approach top fortune companies - will I just be confined to career fairs where "XYZ financial services" present and interact with students (as in the case of BU general career services), or will I be allowed to attend fairs where JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, BCG etc. present (such as those hosted by B-school career events). My concern is not related to the level of the job, but related to having access to better opportunities.
  19. Hey all, My question mainly to students who have done undergraduate degrees in US/Canadian universities- I want to know whether a graduate student enrolled in say a MA Economics program, would have access to career services from the Business school of that university, or will that access be confined to only the BBA and MBA students directly enrolled with that school? This question came to my mind after comparing the list of employers marked on the BU general career website and those marked on the BU graduate school of management (Feld career centre) website. There seemed to be a vast difference as those listed on the B-school site were far more elite compared to those on the general site. This question might seem naive, but your comments would be extremely useful as I am not fully informed of how the American schools work.
  20. This is very likely. I feel the same happening to my applications with US and Canadian universities. I have a 3 year undergraduate degree from the UK and BSc programs there (especially at my university) allow only 4 courses to be taken per academic year (there is no semester system). Thereby, I ended up doing a total of only 12 courses in total. Of course these are intense (since they are 1 year in length) and cover the required material, but perhaps that is not clearly understood by adcoms. The courses being so few in number and also having general titles such as mathematics 1 and 2 instead of "linear algebra", "multivariable calculus", "differential equations" etc. perhaps creates uncertainity over the depth of undergraduate knowledge obtained. Conversion in grades is also a barrier, since there is no accepted norm for translating grades.
  21. Wrap up my job in Vienna with the UN by the end of July - then head off to Armenia to visit parents. I guess il just relax during that visit, refresh some econ and maths concepts and then pack my bags for Boston! (Unless ofcourse UofT or UBC decide to be kind to me before that :) )
