Hey everyone,
Currently I'm doing my BSc degree at Tilburg University in International Economics & Finance and I'm looking into doing a Masters abroad. I really like economics and finance, but I also really enjoy learning new languages, politics, international relations, etc. Therefore I would love to find a combination of the two, which does not seem to exist at this point.
However, at this moment I'm considering the following universities / grad schools:
- Stockholm School of Economics (MSc Business and Economics + CEMS)
- Barcelona Graduate School of Economics (International Trade, Finance and development).
Looking at tuition rates, I think I prefer staying in Europe for a while and I have a strong preference for Stockholm and Barcelona. However, I havent been able to find much on either schools, especially Barcelona GSE. I know UPF is participating but does anyone have experience with GSE itself? And SSE? How competitive is admission for these schools? Is it hard to get in?!
Furthermore I've also looked into University of Toronto, NYU, BU, Cambrdige (mphil) and LSE (duh). However, I am not so sure whether they are out of my league (esp. LSE, Cambridge and NYU). If worst comes to worst, I was thinking of either Maastricht University or Erasmus University Rotterdam.
I have a 7.0 average in my undergrad, which is decent, not great. I took the GRE (M: 720, V: 420, A: 4.5). And I KNOW I can improve the math section since I didnt even finish it.
I do have many (good) EC's like: board member of international student organisation AIESEC, educational board of my major, organistion of a big "case competition" with a budget of over $100,000, I am fluent in English, Spanish, German and Dutch. I speak French (basic) and took courses in ancient Latin and Greek, did an exchange semester in Argentina, volunteer work in Ecuador and volunteer work in Australia, lots of little things (jobs, small committees, etc).
Furthermore I would like to take the next year off to do an internship (suggestions?!).
Can anyone please help me what options are realistic for me? Should I consider other schools? I don't have to study at a "super" institution, but it should definately not be less in quality than my undergrad uni (Tilburg). After my Masters, I would probably like to go into corporate life or start working for an international organization, definately not academia /Phd.
Thanks for the help!
