  1. Hello pals, I received my Physics GRE results for the 3rd April test: 780 points, 74% below, correct 49, incorrect 16, not answer 35, formula score 45 well what do ypou think? I don't know what to say....
  2. hello Pinkesh, for me it would be a very good score 800 points but of course I don't target high ranked schools. I think some "medium" schools it would be just perfect for me. How come you got your score so quikly? I thought that only about 14 May they will email scores to us. I add two more weeks for the mailing so I expected scores only about the 1st of June. I am of course eager to find my scores so please tell me how come you received it so quikly. Thank you and good luck
  3. raw scores for GRE 9677: 56 for 900 scaled 59-60 for 930 scaled raw scores for GRE 9277: 65 for 900 69 for 930 raw scores for GRE 8677: 72 for 900 76 for 930
  4. For me some of the problems in classical mechanics proved to be time consuming. Especialy those with rotational motion about fixed axis and with collisions. I also spent some time with some problems in special relativity with velocity addition. I found easy the problems in electromagnetism and those in thermodinamics. I can say also that they 100 % respected the topics mentioned in the content they posted. I could not find even one problem to be out of that topics. A good strategy for me was to work on the tests and from the problems there, start studying the specific topic. The problems are very similar with those in the tests. They even start with some very easy problems to help candidates I guess.(at least that was in my test- first problems were very easy) Memoraizing constants is implied I guess. You won't have time to read and use the constants they give to you on the first page of the test. You must have it in your mind. You shouldn't worry much, with a proper preparation things are fine. For me the problem was only the time, first bcz I always had a slower pace, second bcz I always had problems with working under time pressure, then bcz I need a little more time for every problem to understand it properly , English being not my native language, and the cold in the classroom simply killed me. My brain and hand were frozen. So just learn the topics mentioned on ETS site, work on the test and I gues the famous, rare ETS book and everything will be OK. Good luck to all.
  5. Hello Mattlorig, congratulations for your test. I also had my test on 3 rd April. And I did not do as good as you did. Although I knew most of problems there I simply had not enough time to properly solve them. So I skiped lot of problems. Anyhow we have now just relax and wait. There is nothing more to do about here. I had no book to prepare from but the GRE 8677 and 9277 that yellowpig sent to me were very very helpful. The question in the actual test were very similar with those in the tests mentioned above. The difference I noticed was that maybe the question in the actual test were somehow easier, I ment on a lower level, but it also involved more numerical calculus which made me spent lot of time (usles). When I knew I can solve the problem I spent time working with lot of numerical calculus and it was not a wise strategy. The room we had the test was very cold so I was frozen and that also somewhat affected my performance. At the test center I was there were only 5 persons taking the GRE Subject: 3 for Math and 2 for Physics. We were only 2 from all Romania. So I can't see them being so overcrowded that they cannot send our scores earlier, I simply cannot see why we have to wait 6 weeks until they will mail the scores+ other 2 weeks for mailing , long time for anxiously waitting. Anyhow I don't aim that high as you do, for me some "mediocre" schools will be OK. Actually I was accpeted at LSU and TTU, both offered assistanship. I wonder how my performances ( or counterperformances) on this test could affect my admission, because they asked me to send them my acceptance before 15 April, then immediatly start the procedures for visa. Maybe you fellow Physicist can help me with a piece of advice about what to choose among these two: Louisiana State University or Texas Technical University. Hope to hear good news from you, I wish you over 900 and I wish over 700 for me [goodjob]
  6. Hello friends, I want to thank you all for the help I recieve here and specialy to yellowpig. He scanned and sent by email to me the previous versions of GRE 8677 and 9277 helping me alot with my preparation as I had no other specific preparation material.[goodjob] I want to wish good luck to all of you who have the exam on 3rd April, good luck to you mattlorig :) If there is anyone who wants the GRE 8677 and 9277 I can also forward to them And last but not least I recieved an email notifying me I was admitted and offered an assistanship at LSU,[w00t][bounce] I am now waiting for the letters bitting my nails
  7. Thanks John, I also downloded from ETS site the GRE 9677 which is the lates version. Since I don't have any specific preparation material I would like to practice on the previous ETS tests (they had two versions befor 9677- the 8677 and 9277) anyone knows ehere these can be found? I am registered to take the GRE PHysics in 3 April and I am already so anxious. Does anyone here trake the GRE Physics in 3 April? Good luck and best regards to all :)
  8. Hello Physicists :) does anyone know how can I get the previous editions of GRE PHysics test? The 8677 and the 9277? I will be forever grateful if anyone could help me with that. :)
  9. Afro, I hope you are not discouraged by that negative answer. I also hope that soon you will come here with a good news from other university you applied :) I always brought good luck to people :) Hope for very good news soon :)
  10. Hello Yevgeny, CONGRATULATIONS[bounce] you must be some genius and belive me the universities will fight for you :) Mihaela-Maria is my real name , why have one when you can have two? About Physics, hmm I would need some help and advice because I feel kind of lost. What do you think about David Bhom's theory? What about Fritjof Capra's "The Physics of tao"? 990 POINTS wow it makes me feel so stupid :drunk:
  11. Hello everyone and best wishes to all :) I would like to know how can I find some free GRE Physics preparation materials. I read mentioned here some versions of the sample test (number 8766 or 9766) if I remember well. Can anyone tell me how can I collect all these tests?
  12. Hello Yevgeny, my name is Maria. I read the message in this forum since November last year. I read almost all the messages you posted here before and after you had your GRE Physics test. If you wish tell us how things are going for you, did you already enrolled for a PhD at an university in USA? Did you recieve the results for the test? You were enthousiastic after you had the test and I wanted to congratuale you I was also very glad for you. And I would add that it is expectable that you do good job at the actual test. :) Sorry for did not answer at your particula question but I don't know the answer Good luck and best regards :)
