Thank you all for advices. @Walras MA in Statistics @ Columbia University is not funded :'( I majored in Economics. I think my weakness was lack of sufficient mathematics courses(rigorous ones)+some poor grades in math courses and LORS My recommendation letter providers are all from Top 10 school,but only one of them knows me well. And he is the only person that wrote pretty strong recommendation letters. @OutOfGame I do not mind paying for the MA.. But,I am not sure how much MA @ Columbia increases my chance for next year.. (I think I am good for top 30-40 not 20). Still on the verge of making a decision :( @oleador I think Pitt does not have faculty members whose specialization is monetary economics... (I am interested in monetary economics..especially) If I decide to reapply next year, I will follow your suggestion.
