  1. 1. The number of Econometric society fellow may be a good indicator of how strong the department is. PSU have 7 fellows, among which 5 are active. While, both Austin and BC have 2 active ones. 2. There are several job market stars recently at PSU. This year, they flyout people to Booth, Upenn, Columbia and other good places. But if you take a close look, you will find only those who specialize in Micro theory have marked good records, not for econometrics unfortunately. All in all, PSU dominates both BC and Austion. Only if you have very very specific research interests in econometrics and you could find someone at BC or Austin to advise you in this field(e.g. quantile regression expert Zhijiao Xiao at BC), you should give some credits to these two.
  2. Thanks so much Spooky. I totally agree with you that Columbia has a strong team in Contract theory and Political Economics. I will flyout to NYC in ten days and get more information to make a wise dicision, hopefully.
  3. I just got admitted into Columbia, NYU and minnesota. What a difficult choice:rolleyes: Any educated suggestion on this tough choice? I want to pursue an academic life and become a faculty member after graduation. PS: My current interests are mainly in Macro, such as topics in Dynamic contract, search theory and political economy. I also have a taste for Theoretical Micro, such as Contract Theory and Political economics in a Micro way
