As far as I am concerned, I went to my univ last week and get 5 original transcripts, signed and stamped, sealed in envelop again signed / stamped.

Universities require reference letters from university, I have left univ since 2002, does it seems fine to get letters after so many years? or better to get from last employer managers.. Further I do not understand below mentioned sentence at most of universities websites, "ALL ACADEMIC RECORDS MUST BE RECEIVED IN ENVELOPES THAT HAVE BEEN SEALED AND ENDORSED BY THE ISSUING INSTITUTION." I have original records and transcripts, signed and stamped by the issuing authority. What sealing is required?

Chances for you are more in Canada then, which profession you are looking at?

I am a chemical engr, looking to apply in Canadian universities for Meng. I have missed date for one of potential univ. of calgary. So far in canada I noticed gre is not required in most of the universities. Is that your real GPA or you converted from percentage? Like in my case I have percentage in my transcripts rather then GPA, so for 80 % I will report a GPA of 80 for scale of 100. I have 9 years of practical experience in pure chemical industry. I got understanding of the reading section primarily from Thomson IBT and had a glance at official guide, barrons toefl too to get a feel. I can prepare for harder If test really wanted, you can see Gmat/GRE reading is tougher then toefl. Again ETS is unfair by changing difficulty level for which the test taker is not prepared. I prepared for only 1 week.......the toefl level.

Logically the 1st set of passages must be considered for scoring or the ones where candidate gets high score. This is unfair, they should do this with paid service from students, not to play with test takers.

Administrator asked me to carry on and complete the passages again. This wasted some of my time and yes 40 mints again was very annoying to me. The passages were above normal toefl difficulty level. ETS is doing what? Imagine for the GRE test that I've recently given, their practice software powerprep is very old and cannot run on windows-7 64 bit, they are not serious to just put some money to built a new software that is able to run on latest windows? having cost less then registration fee of single person.... For Toefl online registration, their online process do not support Windows-7 Internet explorer in 64 bit? That was strange, I had to tun xp setup and old ie to complete the registration. I complained for this but what will they do..... Honestly speaking, toefl is such a childish test, anyone with high secondary school with English courses is able to speak, listen and write very well. ETS must do some other business for money making, this is really enough.....

Thanks for the reply, but this is totally unacceptable. I did my best for the 1st 2 passages and was really unhappy to see the new passages coming again without my consent. I called the attendant and asked what was it? 2nd passages were of more difficult level and i was not happy to put my efforts again, probably i had more mistakes in that. After getting my result, I'll pursue against this poor practice,,,,they must stop this.:mad:

Finished toefl today on 10th july, used "Thomson a complete guide to toefl ibt" as reference book. Book is good however, Integrated speaking section, task-3/4 the reading passages are long as compared to actual test. Writing section of the book is not well organized. Integrated writing question and the sample reponse really not coordinate with each other. Independent writing samples are not up to the mark. Also tried to use TOEFL Sim for online practice, but after one listening section I never tried again, as the speker is just reading an article in a monotonous way, far from real toefl listening. In actual test Listening/speaking/writing are easy as compared to reading. There were 5 reading passages, not sure why? total reading questions-14+28+27

Given toefl today, but 2 paragraphs portion appeared twice. First with 28 questions, then with 27 questions with different reading material. What this could be? which one was not part of test...

Thanks all, but the luck was not in my full favor. Before test night I slept for 3 hours only. I was not fresh and feeling dizzy, I completed Verbal in time but the score is 500. Math section was much different from powerprep, starting from the first each question was a bouncer. There was no straight forward question, for each I had to do some rough work. Because of dizziness ~ 4 times I had to re-work my rough work and that cost me at the end, every question was demanding some time and I ended up solving only 24 questions with no time left for the last 4. Score comes out 720 which was not my expectation, I am looking to re-take. I would highly recommend math practice with timed sessions, this is important. Questions I quickly remember: 1. Given a set of seven numbers {7, 3, 4, 1, 9, 6, 2}, how many 4 digit numbers can be formed out of these? no number is to repeat itself. 2. x is an integer, for how many values of x, x^2 is b/w 0 - 150? 3. When k is dividided by 6, remainder is 4. If 8k is divided by 6 what should be the remainder?
