  3. I have to admit: i have written nearly fourty minutes to finish this essay... I hope next time i could do better. Thanks so much. 08-12-5 Do you agree or disagree? Playing sports teaches people more lessons about their lives? Word Count: 545 When it comes to sports, people could benefit a lot from this physical exercise which has emerged since the dawn of human civilization. Everyday when we pass a playground on campus, there are groups of football plays fighting with sweat under scorching heat. By participating in sports, people learn their life better, including learn how to trust other people, how to see other's mind, and to learn how to gain sportsmanship. In the first place, during the process of playing sports together, people come to realize how to put their trust on other people. Human beings are gregarious animal in some way; thus we need to have faith on our friends and classmates during our corporation. Life bounds with such examples. Just as illustrated in the Oscar-winning movie, Blind Side, though Big Mike is clueless about soccer at first, he opened his mind and learn to trust his team members. He protected them like his own family members. In the end of the film, their team achieved glorious triumph. In our daily life, there is no way around the fact that we need to watch our back sometimes; however, if we need to accomplish our goal with a group of people, we need to have faith in them, which is crucial no matter for a multi-million international corporation or for national basketball teams. Second, by playing sports with other members, we gradually get the insight into human nature. As the saying goes: "People don't change." Hence, we could observe a person through sports, knowing who he is and what he is like. A case may demonstrate in this point. In my senior high school, I attended a Taekwondao class, a Korean defensive martial art class. One of my friends, Johnson, is so courageous and yet protective toward us. It seems like he has something soft and gentle in his heart. While other team members would grab and fight wildly with each other in order to win or impress our teacher. Especially some bully seniors, they don't care whether others may badly twist their ankles or get bruised right on their face. However, Johnny has a big heart and empathy with others. It is undeniable that he is the most popular member with most sophisticated skills in our team. Personally, I have learnt a lot through observing such an amazing person. Finally, sportsmanship is like a diamond shining inside a person. Even though we may lose our medal by only one count, we could smile with tears and grace; even though we have to endure extreme pain in our ankle or overstretched muscle, we could fight with courage and endurance; even though we win the game, we could show empathy and modesty toward people who fails. It is quiet though-provoking that how we human create sports and how sports makes us human, as said by Micheal Jordon in a talk show. Considering three reasons mentioned above, we may safely come to the conclusion that sports plays a significant and indispensable role in making us civilized and educated. There are so many credits that could be attributed to sports; in essence, sports teaches us how to believe people around us, how to see through other people and how to obtain valuable sportsmanship. The learning process is incredible.
  4. Do you agree or disagree: students who keep their rooms neat and organized are more likely to be successful? In our life, we are surrounded by such a group of people----at any time, they keep their rooms clean and tidy, free from any sign of mess and dust, like a classy art exhibition There is no way around the fact that they tend to be more successful than their contemporaries for their desirable habit. As far as I'm concerned, three noticeable traits are possessed by such an organized group: being good at making plans, persistence and the desire to impress other people; fortunately, these qualities are the major contributors toward people's future success. 94 In the first place, a person who could manage his room well tend to make a meticulous and detailed schedule out of a disastrous mess/tangle. During our school years, we may have huge tons of reading materials to cover, have several projects waiting on the list till next month, or even have to conduct dozens of sophisticated experiments in a tangled lab. The whole academic life is pressing us. Besides, when students reach their adulthood and crowd into work force, they need to perform at their best to survive, totally out of a smothering chaos. Hence, suppose a youth who get used to a well organized life style since his elementary school, he could handle the demanding situation much better than his clueless peers. 124 Second, it is undeniable that it requires persistence and endurance to keep one' own room tidy in a long term. Generals, we assume it tough to keep our spotless kitchen table; and it is also a painstaking task to cover unpleasant smell from every corner in our room; in addition, it takes patience and time to maintain our piles of books free of dust, shining over the book shelf like new ones. Yet, persistence is the basic and fundamental quality for a person who is eager to make something in his life. Such a lifetime good habit could benefit people to a large degree. A case could illustrate this point. According to a survey conducted by China Daily in May, more than eighty percent of successful celebrities, including business savvy, talented musicians and prestigious professors, could manage their own life well in various ranges, from their private room and apartment to multi-million corporations, 153 Finally, based on a psychological theory, the reason why people could manage their room in a well-organized manner is the fact that they wish to impress other people. Life bounds with such examples. A boy has a stable relationship with his beloved girl friend; in a general term, his girlfriend would find his room clean and spotless when she pays a visit, thus considering him a reliable man. Another case in point: compared with a dirty table covered by casually scattered files, company executives tend to be more impressed by a neat office table. The fashion movie "Devil wears Prada" also demonstrate this point well. Therefore, that tidy employee may have a higher chance to impress his boss and then get promoted someday. It happens naturally for a tidy person could appeal to other people mentally, by indicating themselves in a trustworthy manner. 143 Considering three reasons mentioned above, we could safely reach the conclusion that a person who could keep his room clean would be more successful in their future career. As we observe others, we take a close look at his facial expression, gestures and his every manner since these factors could determine whether his future is gloomy or promising to some degree. Hence, it is a treasure to keep if we hope to achieve a better future. 76 Word count: 590
  5. HI, samarfadl: Thanks for your comment. 6. TPO 11 Integrated writing Word account: 325 The professor disagrees with the statement in the reading passage by posing three different opinions. In the first place, it is true that people read less literature works than they used to, but literature is not the only media that provides intellectual stimulation. Other writings, like science books, history records, and political analysis, are also of great quality. They are creative and well-written. They could also provoke thinking and imagination. Hence, a declining number of people in reading literature does not means level of culture is declining. This point contradicts with the idea in the reading passage that by reading less literature, the reading public is missing out on intellectual stimulation and other important benefits. Second, culture standard is not being set lower just because people have diverted their time in watching a music video, or read a Web page. A thought-provoking song or an amazing movie are also forms of culture for culture has various forms of expression. Culture has been changing, and movies or songs are more direct expressions. This point also opposes the notion in the article that because people have spent less time on reading literature classics, the level of culture in general has been lowered. Third, as for less support in literature publishing, readers are not to blame. However, writers are the one to blame. Previous writers, obviously, have read much more books than contemporary writers, whose literature works are difficult to understand. Hence, it is writer's fault, not readers'. This notion is against the idea in the reading passage that the writing as well as the reading of literature tends to diminish due to the poor standards of todays's audience. All in all, speaker contradicts what mentioned in the reading passage and states that other books are also as of high quality and ineffectual stimulation as literature, and level of culture is not lowered by readers' diversion to other kinds of culture, and it is writers to blame, not the readers.
  7. TPO13 WORD ACCOUNT: 367 Thanks so much for grading my essay. You guys are wonderful. I mean it. The listening passage casts doubt on reading passage by posing three different opinions. Professor states the advantages of collecting fossils by private merchants outweigh its disadvantages. It is greatly exaggerated as mentioned in the reading passage. In the first place, the public is likely to have greatly more exposure to fossils, not less exposure. Private collectors will make plenty of fossils for purchase, so some low-level collectors, like public schools and libraries could have chance to buy it. This point contradicts the idea in the reading material that the public suffer for less access to see fossils, thus leading to a decline in public interest in fossil, which would be a pity. This is not true. Second, before being sold to wealthy fossil buyers, scientists are the only people who have the right to identify fossils and decide the value of fossils. It is the scientists who provide the details and perform tests on fossils. Hence, fossils need to pass through hands of scientists and experts who would not miss out anything important there. The whole science circle would lose nothing significant. This point doubts the notion in the reading passage that scientists are likely to lose access to some of the most important fossils and thereby miss out on potentially crucial discoveries about extinct life forms. Last but not least, as for damage may caused by commercial fossil collectors, speaker suggests that it is better to make fossils remain uncovered forever. If commercial fossil collectors keep unearthing more fossils, scientists could find out exact locations and its surroundings. Otherwise, scientists would be clueless of this precious information about fossils and keep those fossils completely uncovered. This point questions what mentioned in the reading article that commercial fossil collectors often destroy valuable scientific evidence associated with the fossils they unearth. In short, lecturer disagrees with three points in the reading passage and he thinks it is an exaggeration to state that this is an unfortunate development for both scientists and the general public. Therefore, he says that the public have more accesses to fossils, and scientists still have valuable information about fossils and it is better for private collectors to uncover fossils than let fossils stay totally underground.
  8. 1. Someone suggests school to cut the Recycling. Do you agree or disagree with this suggestion, explain why. i suppose its meaning is that school should call off / stop garbage recycling---the process of treating waste materials such as newspapers and bottles so that they can be used again; I disagree for two reasons. First, school environment would be destroyed. Second, wast more natural resources like used paper or bottles. Do i understand this title correctly? I am really concerned about this one. Could anyone interpret this one for me? Thank you!
  9. The lecture is about art appreciation; it states about visual elements in arts. Could you please sum up key points if this task 6? Thank you!
  10. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? In twenty years, there will be fewer cars in use than there are today. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. My essay: In mordern life, cars are an indispensable and essential tool for human life. Since its invention, car has altered human's life to a large degreee by facilitating people's work and shortening thier waiting time on the road. However, in twenty years, it is unavoidable that people would tend to drive car less frequently and fewer cars would hit on the road for the following reasons. In the first place, there is an increasing awareness among people of protecting our only planet and create a more favorable environement for our next generation. However, wasted gases emitted by driving cars are the dominant factor causing the rising temperature worldwide. The worsening air quality and costantly melting polar glaciers are putting people's life and future at risk. Accoring to a survey, fuel gases accounts for 80 percent to global warming and green house effects. Furthermore, it is even changing the currents and waves in ocean, such as the appear of abnormal current of El nino, which damages the agriculture and bring about torrential rain along its route. Therefore, having realized the severe consequences, people would drive less and take the public reansporation. Second, a series of measures taken by government would boost people's intention to drive less. It is not uncommon that during recent years, several summits aiming at global climate are held, by which president and top officials from a number of nations hope to come up with the solution of slowing or reversing this global warming progress. With large-scale financial investment in public transportation and the aleady prohibitively high oil prices in most cities, people would turn to take subways, buses and taxies. In addition, parking and traffic conjestion are also the big headache for citiznes. Take Beijing for example, for the high housing prices in downtown, large number of people choose to live in uptown. However, if they drive car to work office, traffic jams along their route would take them almost one hour and an half to reach their office, not to menton the high parking and fuel prices and limited parking lot in downtown. Therefore, there are increasing number of people prefer to take subways due to its convenience and low price, leading to shrinking car numbers on the road. It is undeniable that driving a car could be comforatble and fast in an ideal condition, but with so many realistic problems need to deliberate, people in big cities would choose to drivce less and enjoy the fast public transporation. To crown it all, I'm of conviction that in twnenty years, there will be less cars hitting on the road for people's increasing awareness to protect environment and government' s policies. 11. Hi, san2612, You saidit’s undeniable then it could be ignored??? àHowever, take into account negative value , these advantages could be overpowered by its disadvantages… This sentence is what i mean to express~ 3x!

  14. TPO 8 Independent Writing Thank you so much! Television advertising directed toward young children (age two to five ) should not be allowed. Agree or disagree? Coincident with most people's notion is my heartfelt belief that television advertising directed toward young children should not be allowed. After advent of televion, advertising has penetrated into nearly every corner and every minute of our life. It is not uncommon to observe the large amounts of television advertising aiming at innocent young children. My reasons for opposing advertising directed toward young children are as follows. In the first place, advertising may waste money and cause emotional torture of parents when they fail to fulill their children's unreasonable demands. However, nowadays, regardless of what children's true need, most of advertising are promoting a large number of products that is useless or unsuitable to children. For exmple, when a family are having a pleasant dinner together on Christmas Eve, a cartoon figure ---- lion king would appears on screen and holds a tub of popcorn to attract children's attention. It is a typical advertising strategy----host sale. By combining popular cartoon figures and products, advertising could draw children's attention and achieve a better sale. However, it may cause problems for children; first, some children may have difficultiy to absorb the content in the advertising; second, if children are attracted by it and they insist on purchasing it while parents consider the products as a piece of meaningless junk, the crying and screaming could drive their parents crazy. Therefore, advertising could cause problems not only for children to understand but also may bother and upset parents. Furthermore, advertising could be misleading to children for major goals of most of advertings are just making profits whereas children between age two to five lack ability of understanding and judgement. Children are easily influenced by outside world and admittedly television advertising are playing a negative role in this aspect for they tend to exaggerate their products. For example, my two-year old younger brother is obssesed with Transformer, Spiderman and Superman models. In his mind, these toys are magic, fantastic and powerful as imparted by advertising. In fact, they are just normal toys; they can not fly, climb mountians or save people's life. Some two year old boys even are just babbling instead of speaking clearly, not to mention identifying misleading messages conveyed in the advertisings. Thus, these advertising are misleading and distorting childrens' vision toward reality. All in all, though there are some undeniable benefits of advertising for children; for example, advertising could open an amazing world of imagination and innovation for children by informing them what a fabulous Barbie or a magnificent castle is. However, these advantages could be ignored when its disadvantages are taken into consideration. It would be misleading to children, distort their vision toward reality and even cause quarrels and financial burdens for parents.
