Berkeley CS: Still riding the rollercoaster?
casperfigus replied to CS_MS_Anonymous's topic in Admissions Results
I haven't heard back either. I've applied for CS MS specializing in AI. -
I'm sorry to hear that, I'm sure you'll get into your other schools...sometimes I just don't know the critieria they use to evaluate candidates. I fear I will be in the same boat. I'm still kicking myself for only applying to 4 schools.

Owiee, I just heard I got dinged.. batting 0/2 (2 more to go). This is really depressing....I'm gonna keep my spirits up and keep hoping for the best. Best of luck guys! The phone number for the admission office is 617 253-4603

I just got some information from the admission office, they said they haven't sent out all admits and will send out all decision before middle of next month. So if you haven't heard, they're still deciding :hmm:

Hey guys, I've been anxiously waiting to hear something from the 4 different schools that I applied to. Sadly, my first reply back was a reject from U Washington (notified via email). :yuck: Seems like they admitted close to 8.5% of the students. I'm still in a state of shock since it was my backup school. I'm praying for better news from the other schools, but looks like Berkeley is unlikely. Good luck guys! --Casper

Hi gforce, Our profiles are quite similiar. However, I opted not to take the CS GRE since it's been ages since I've been in the classroom. Yes, I hope we both get in, it would be awesome:) I'm gonna be really depressed  if I don't since it's my first choice. Can you PM me the links for the other boards? Thanks!

Hi gforce, hey thanks for the quick response, I am applying to the CS department for a Masters with specialization in Artificial Intelligence. Admittly, my profile isn't so spectular: M: 790 V: 710 W: 5.0 GPA: 3.77 (overall) 3.85 (major) Research: None, however 8 years of work experience at a large technology company. My other guess is maybe they're going through the notification alphabetically since my last name, "Y", is at the end of the alphabet soup. Cheers!

Yeah I tried a couple of tests with my work and yahoo email account, they did not show up until today. Seems like it was common problem yesterday (2/16/2005): http://groups-beta.google.com/group/Gmail-Help-Discussion/browse_thread/thread/68bf5cd4b6c3dd6d/aafa140f7030fd1e#aafa140f7030fd1e Now, I'm getting a little anxious that maybe my admit/reject email letter has gotten lost. Has anybody not heard back from Berkeley EECS yet?

It's great that you guys are hearing back news from Berkeley. I hope you guys many future successes. I haven't heard anything back yet as I suspect it's due to my gmail email account not being able to receive email at all today. I was wondering if you guys knew of any way that I can get in contact with the EECS department (I couldn't find any telephone number on their web site). Thanks!

Hi, I'm a domestic student. I recently took the GRE for a second time I got M: 790 V: 710 (still waiting for AWA score). Previously, I got M:740 V: 650 A: 4.5. For my bachelor degree in CS, I had an overall GPA is 3.76 and major GPA of 3.85 (my school is not listed in any tier so I am assuming tier 4). I have 7+ years of working experience at Hewlett-Packard, unfortunately no research paper. 1) I am wondering what my chances are at these schools: Stanford UC-Berkeley MIT CIT UC-Davis UC-Los Angeles UWashington 2) Based on the information, is it good enough to apply for PhD, or should I be on the safe side and apply for MS? 3) Would my first set of test scores hurt my chances? 4) Are there any other schools I should apply to for backup schools? I'd prefer to stay on the West Coast. Thanks for your insight!
