  1. I have a feeling too that they're pretty much done notifying people whether they're accepted or waitlisted. Sucks they wait till later to let the others know they've been rejected! Oh well - it's their loss (or so I like to convince myself.)
  2. Oh! I think they usually report their results around Feb 15 - so i'm wondering if that's an implicit rejection!
  3. Institution: U of Arizona Program: PhD Economics Decision: Rejected Funding: NA Notification date: 03/17/2011 Notified through: e-mail Posted on GC: no Comments: oh well...
  4. Congratulations EconForeThought. That's pretty fantastic[clap]
  5. Thank you guys/gals for all your valuable insights. It is absolutely true that where you do your undergrad matters, and your school's placement record into top PhDs is also very important. So, what do we do? I particularily have done my undergrad at a no name school, and my masters at a school with a reputattion for the far right!! I was hoping to get into a decent solid program (ok maybe in the 20-40 range to be realistic) but i'm beginning to feel that even that is out of reach! Since we pretty much can't go back 5-8 years and change where we went or our undergrad GPA , what CAN you do differently really for this next cycle? Not trying to be a downer or anything but seriously, do we have the time to convince adcoms that we've improved in these few months and that they should admit us now?
  6. Congrats to all those who received pretty good offers so far. All the best to you all. I know the process is not fully over yet, but, for those of us who wish and probably should plan to give it another shot later this year for 2012, what did we learn from this year so far? What would you have done differently (selection of schools, classes taken, GRE, etc.).? I wanted to throw this out there now while we still have many of the students who will be attending PhDs to hopefully get their feedback and advise for the next cycle. At the end of the day, how do we know, or how can measure our competitiveness when applying to certain programs?
  7. A friend of mine got into UCSB two years ago with very nice funding and i think you're profile is a lot more attractive than his was. I'm sure they'll be lucky to have you! Best of luck to you, ARE.
  8. Thanks ARE. It seems like its taking them forever. Sorry to the forum for the inappropriate language! ARE, have you decided where you'll go? UCSB?
  9. Can someone please tell me when the hell is Arizona gonna come out with their freakin' results? EDIT BY MODERATOR
  10. I know how you feel ikt. I'm sure its their loss! Who wants to live in Columbus anyway, i mean seriously!
