Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum and this is my very first post.
Here's my profile for evaluation:
Type of Undergrad: Bachlors in Commerce with honors in Accounting
Undergrad GPA: 2.9 / 4.0
Type of Grad: MBA in finance and Economics; Medium ranking B school in India.
Grad GPA: 3.5/4.0
Work Experience: Post MBA i have 5 and 1/2 years of Tax Consulting work experience (currently at a middle management level) in the field of Transfer Pricing
GRE: Yet to take; Expect to get >780Q, >700V and awa 4.5
Math Courses: Linear Algebra (B+), Calculus I and II (A), Business Statistics (A), Probability (A)
Econ Courses: (in MBA) : Microeconomics (A+), Macroeconomics (B+), Basic Econometrics (B), Game Theory(B), International Economics (A), Financial Economics (B+)
Other Courses: About 7-8 as Finance major in MBA
Letters of Recommendation: 2 from Senior economists with phd from Boston U and from Brown. 1 economics professor who taught me in MBA. I don't expect them to be very well known, but they would have a good word to say.
Research Experience: Research during my MBA related to Transfer Pricing, but nothing spectacular; Currently working on a economics research paper along with our senior economist on issues related to Transfer Pricing. Expect it to be published soon
Teaching Experience: None
Research Interests: Industrial Organization
I am contemplating applying for a PhD program and was wondering what the admission chances are for me, and how my GPA will play into this.
Would my work experience help in PhD admissions. Its my work in the field of Transfer Pricing that has motivated my interests in pursuing a PhD program with research in Industrial Organization. This field of economics is very closely related to my work and would want to pursue a career in consulting after completion of PhD.
Alternatively, should i take up a masters degree first. My major concern is the prohibitive costs for the same.
I'd appreciate any help from you guys.
Best regards,
