    Sop

Dear you guys and chicks, I am an European research master student currently applying for a Ph.D. in economics in the USA. I have some problems with my SOP, since we clearly have cultural differences and values and I do not have any American friend to read and comment it. Is there one of you who could be amazingly awesome and correct it ? Thanks a lot for your time, Adrien
  2. also, I am wondering to what I should apply. If I want to pursue a PhD, I should apply to the PhD program right ? Why so many guys are wondering to apply for a MA progam ? Easier to be taken ?
  3. thanks a lot for your comments. but what do you think about Princeton, NYU and Columbia ? they actually are my dream shots. did I missed any other interesting university ? I do not really need to focus on top universities, my main objective is just to get an awesome programs in a dynamic department. What are the other good universities I could be interested in below the top 10 ?
  4. I woul like to enroll in a PhD program in the USA. It 's definitely a dream for me to study in the US. I am sorry for the grades, it is in European form. Just know that having 18/20 is, in overall, the maximum you could possibly get. 20/20 is really rare, and sometimes simply impossible for certain professors (they never give it). 22 years interests : nonlinear economics, finance university : UCL in Belgium, Europe undergrad : business engineering, cum laude (15,6/20) grad : research master in economics, econometrics orientation, affiliation with the CORE first year 2009-2010 cum magna laude (16,7/20) probably the best of the research school econ courses : Industrial Economics 16.0 European Economy 16.0 Econometrics 18.0 Statistical multivariate statistics 17.5 Finance 15.5 Advanced Microeconomics I : Decision and Game Theory 14.5 Advanced Microeconomics II : General Equilibrium and Mechanism Design 18.0 Advanced Macroeconomics I : Intertemporal Behavior and Business Cycles 18.0 Advanced Macroeconomics II : Growth, Dynamics and Policy 14.0 Research Seminar I : Macroeconomics 17.0 Mathematics and Statistics for Economics 18.0 Dynamical Methods in Economics 17.0 Advanced Econometrics II - Time Series Econometrics 17.0 Advanced Econometrics I 15.0 GRE: giving later this month. knowing my skill, I should be able to score very well in quantitative (at least 780), not really in the rest research : one essay paper, very technical, where I got 17/20. it creates an algorithm to analyse financial series in a chaotic and relative perspective (and proves relations between crisis and chaos dominance in the generating data process) TA experience : summer 2010 + year 2010-2011 in political economics work experience : internship at the bureau fédéral du plan, the belgian government research center in economics recommendation : 2 enthousiastic from two known professors in macroeconomics and econometrics, 1 strong from a well-known professor in microeconomics, one very enthousiastic from a professor in economic thought thinking of applying to : Berkeley - Princeton - Yale - NYU - Cambridge LSE - University of Washington - Boston University - Pennsylvannia - Northwestern - Columbia Thanks a lot for the advices ! Any comment would be interesting for me. I I didn't gave all the usefull informations you need to evaluate me, please do not hesitate to ask.
