  1. My preference would be like this: Dynamics > PDE > Applications of LA. Number theory and eucledian and non-euclidean geometries are not very relevant to economics I think. Many macro and applied micro theory models use dynamics. PDE is very useful for asset pricing.
  2. Type of Undergrad: B.S. Economics with Minor in Math from one of the top private universities in Turkey Undergrad GPA:3.8/4 Type of Grad:in Fall took Micro I, Macro I, Measure-theoretic Probability Theory GRE: 800Q 590V 3.5AWA Math Courses: Calc 1(A) Calc 2 (A-) Linear Algebra (A) ODE (A-) Intro. to Prob (A) Calc based stats (A) Real Analysis (A) Econ Courses: General Undergrad Courses, but I took advanced micro and information economics if that matters. (all A's) Letters of Recommendation: 1 prof, 2 assistant profs at my school. they hold PhD degrees from decent American institutions Research Experience: Minimal Teaching Experience: 1 year as a teachers assistant. Helped students and graded papers Research Interests:Micro, Game Theory, Information Econ. Acceptances: UCLA($$), Carnegie Mellon($$$), Boston College($$), Texas Austin($$), ASU ($$$) Rejections: Harvard, Stanford, Princeton, UPenn, Columbia GSB, NYU, Michigan, Northwestern Kellogg, Brown, Duke, Georgetown. Attending: UCLA What would you have done differently? I might apply after a 2-year master program that would have strengthened my profile. However, I am happy with my results. As stated repeatedly in the previous posts, you only need one good admit :) I think UCLA is a good match for me.
  3. Didn't anybody go? I couldn't make it so I'd appreciate some highlights.
  4. Does anyone have comments on UCLA flyout? Anyone want to share information about it? Thanks!
  5. Institution: Yale Program: Economics Decision: Rejected Funding: N/A Notification date: Feb 16 Notified through: Email to check website Posted on GC: No Comments: :(first rejection!!
  6. gkhn and bholly, thank you for your useful info. guys, can you give the e-mail addresses of NYU and UPenn we are supposed to send our updated transcripts?
  7. Hi, I have applied to Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, Yale, Berkeley, Kellogg MEDS, UPenn, Columbia GSB Finance, NYU, CalTech, UCLA, Michigan, Carnegie Mellon, Brown. Do you know which schools accept updated transcript by e-mail? Thank you for your help.
  8. I heard from one of my professors that BGSE is not very generous in terms of funding. Also last year one of my friends got accepted to BGSE without funding. Your profile is definitely better than his though.
  9. I am just taking grad-level courses in my senior year.
  10. I go to one of the top research-oriented private universities in Turkey. Previous years, the graduates of econ program get accepted to top schools such as Chicago, Stanford, Kellogg, Upenn. As a senior student I am currently ranked first in undergrad econ program. My academic advisor is a professor at econ department.
  11. I dont know much about UBC and Barcelona GSE. However, They are probably better than Tilburg with regards to your interest because Tilburg is good at behavioral, IO etc rather than macro.
  12. It seems you are the best student at Bilkent economics this year. I think you will be accepted to Tilburg with funding. If your LORs are really strong, you may also be accepted to top 10 PhD programs I guess but as you said your lack of math preparation and research experience are obstacles in your profile.
  13. Do Functional analysis and Hilbert space techniques mean same stuff? Or is Hilbert space a subfield of functional analysis?
  14. Calculus I-II, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Introduction to Probability, Real Analysis, Mathematical Statistics and Measure-theoretic Probability Theory. Next semester, I will take Algebra and Stochastic Calculus. To complete my minor in math, I need one more math course so that I posted this thread.
