  1. I'm really really hesitant to talk about other schools because I don't want to inadvertently piss them off or make them feel like I'm not ecstatic about the offer... I'm sure there is a savvy, polite way to bring up other offers but I'd rather not try to do it. I'm inclined to do what mathemagician recommends and just make small talk about their research.

  3. Harvard is allowing its admitted students to sign up for 20-minute slots to meet and chat with most of the professors that are currently there. Can anyone who's done one of these speak to what it's like? I'm just not sure what I need to prepare or what would be appropriate to talk about.

  13. hello forum, Just trying to get a feel for how applications might be read. I have some holes in my profile, and I think my letters are what sort of hold everything together. if the adcoms give up on me before they get to the letters, it's all over. If they stick it out and read the letters, I have hope. so, my question is, how do you think the apps are read / in what order? I assume it would be GRE scores first, then maybe the transcript and then the letters / SOP? your thoughts?
  14. thanks, untitled! this (as well as the rest of your analysis) is very helpful.
