  1. To all Whenever I search this forum , it seems like the discussion is mostly focused on US universities Of course quiet a lot discusses with some UK and Canadian universities, but the number is extremely small compare to the US universities Do you think there are only Oxbridge, LSE, UBC and Toronto University to be considered when applying to the UK and Canadian universities? Aren't there other UK and Canadian universities that are as good as wold top 50~100 or US top 50~100? Please list all fo them....so can expand the choice Many thanks

  5. When I searched the ranking in international trade and development economics, I found something strange From IDEAS ranking in trade and development Field Rankings at IDEAS: International Trade Field Rankings at IDEAS: Development The economics department ranking in UBC, Toronto are very low~! (Although the ranking of the business departments were amazingly high in international trade....) However, when I also checked out the site below (very reputable for economics ranking) Rankings: Trade & Development The ranking of UBC and Toronto are high Why are there polarized results? Why is the business departments' ranking much higher than Economics departments' in IDEAS for international trade(->isn't international very closed to economics?)?
  6. When I see some professors such as Bhagwati, I was wondering why they post their primary interests as "international trade + political economics" For me, they wriet papers as if their primary interests as "international trade + public finance/economics)" Isn't political economics more related to voting while public finance/economics is more on tax or welfare analysis? Can somebody clarify this? The confusion may arise because I have never studied political economics (only studied public finance/economics) P.S. No offence here...
  7. When I checked out IDEAS ranking site I could not distinguish between "International finance" and "Open macroeconomics" even I looked at the paper Can you tell me the difference thoroughly Also, if someone wants to focus on Macroeconomics and international macroeconomics, should I look at international finance or open macroeconomcics? For me, international finance is for someone who wants to focus on both international trade and international finance (such as FDI) Please clarify the difference so avoid applying to the wrong department...
  8. Ok, I have a question about converting UK score to US GPA 1. I found the site from WES GRADE CONVERSITY GUIDE which is WES Grade Conversion Guide This sitre shows the relationship between UK scores and grade (A,A-...) 2. I just want to know about it so can predict myself if I have a possibility to accept an offer from Worldly-recognized universities (Havard, Yale,,,..) to very famous universities (UoMinnesota, UoWisconsin-medison,...)
  9. Ok, I have a question now 1. I found the site WES CONVERTING GUIDE WES Grade Conversion Guide which shows UK grade and 2. This website from COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY, US Application Instructions | Columbia Business School Doctoral Program which shows the relationship between grade and GPA Based on 1 and 2, it is possible to say that they can be used as tools to notice my GPA regardless of which UK university I graduated to apply to any university ranged from Worldly-recognized ones (Havard, Yale,...) to prestigious ones (UoWisconsin-medison,...) ? or does the university I graduated in the UK matter? (for example I graduated from top 10 or 20 university in the UK as an economics major student) Hope all the readers could understand what I wrote :)
