  1. My answer is 5... I really can't explain it better than Brent!
  2. It's simple. If the diaginal is 20 inches that means the hypotenuse is 20 inches. Let the length of the other sides be x, So, 20^2= (x^2) + (x^2) as h^2= b^2 + l^2 But in a square, both the sides are equal. 400= 2(x^2) 200=x^2 x = 14.14 Perimeter = 4*length of side P = 4 * 14.14 P = 56.6 (approx.) Rounding off to the nearest 10, P = 60. My answer is B.
  3. the time I saw gmatitude's post, I had already figured it out myself... But anyway this is IMPRESSIVE!
  4. The answer to 1 is d. The answer to 2 is e. Man, this keeps getting better and better...
  5. How do you make this a new thread????
  6. Hey guys, I didn't want to start a new thread so I am posting my question here itself. In a test comprising of 100 questions, four marks are awarded for every question answered correctly. The number of marks deducted for every question answered wrongly and for every question left unattempted is 2 and 1 respectively. 1. If a student got 64 marks in the test, then which of the following can be the number of questions solved wrongly by the student? (a) 12 (b) 25 © 44 (d) 56 (e) 61 2. If the total number of question left unattempted by a student in the test is 60, then which of the following cannot be the marks obtained by the student in the test? (a) -2 (b) 10 © 40 (d) -26 (e) -18
  7. This one is easy. It can be solved by unitary method. 1 gallon- 25 miles (city) 0.4 gallons - 10 miles (city) 1 gallon - 40 miles (highway) 1.25 gallons - 50 miles (highway) Total distance travelled = 60 miles. Total gasoline used = 1.25 + 0.4 = 1.65 gallons. Averaging, 60/1.65 = 36.3636... Rounding off and henceforth my answer, my answer is 36.
  8. Assume there are five nos. They can be a, b, 140, d, e. Very importantly 140 is the median, and d and e are to be more or equal to 140. ( as they are written in increasing order). Minimizing the other variables d and e will maximize a and b. In order to that, lets assume, d and e is 140 cm. Arithmetic mean is 124 cm and total length will be 124*5=620. Now as earlier shown, there are three variables which are 140 cm. Total = 140*3=420. Subtracting, 620-420 = 200. For a and b, dividing by 2, we get the length is 100 cm.
  9. By solving you get, a=-3, b=-1 and c=-2. So a^2 + b^2 + C^2 =14.
  10. Bring on some more of this.. I am pumped!!!
