Hi Friends, This is my profile: Fall 2011 | MS | CS |InfoSec GRE-1240(Q-770,V-470, AWA NA) | TOEFL 106 | B.E 70%|BMSCE(VTU) Class Xth - 88% Class XII th - 88% I am currently working as a Technology Analyst for infosec group in Goldman Sachs. Other relevant details: 1. Work Experience - 1.5 years Paladion Networks: Security Engineer Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing of servers, network devices and applications. Did secure code reviews. Published an article in "Palisade" a security magazine. b. Goldman Sachs - Technology Analyst - Current Source Code Reviews, Design Reviews, Penetration Testing. Part of the information security training group. Developed a security tool which stops any connections if it identifies a brute force attack. Other part time work: (don't know if it matters) 1. Member - Executive Panel: Mckinsey Quarterly (Business Journal - Mckinsey & Co) 2. Co-Founder - Samruddhi, NGO involved in Personality development of children. 2. Completed Post Graduate Diploma in Information Security(PGDIS) from C-DAC - a part time 6 month course. Completed 2 academic projects under this: a. "Forensic Analysis of an Unknown Image" b. "PKI Implementation in internal systems." 3. List of Security Certifications: a. GIAC Certified Incident Handler(GCIH) b. Certified Ethical Hacker c. Qualysguard Certified Specialist d. ISO27001 LA 4. Completed a proficiency course on Wireless Security from Indian Institute of Science (IISc) 5. Letters of recommendations: 1. HOD 2. Assistant prof under whom i did my final year project 3. Senior Research scientist at C-DAC 6. Lot of extracurricular activities from school till college. Currently hoping for: 1. Purdue University MS InfoSec CERIAS 2. Gatech MS IS 3. Uni of Washington MSIM 4. U Cal Davis MS CS 5. U Penn MCIT/MSE 6. JHU ISI MSSI 7. CMU INI MSISTM 8. Iowa State MS IA 9. Stony Brook MS CS 10. George Mason MS-ISA 11. USC Master of Science in Computer Science with Specialization in Computer Security 12. Northeastern MS IA 13. George Washington MS CS 14. UC Irvine MS CS 15. SUNY - Buffalo 16. Syracuse Uni MS IM : Infosec specialization 17. Indiana University - Bloomington : MS Security Informatics 18. Columbia Uni: MS CS 19. New York University 20. Univ of Minnesota - Twin Cities. I want to apply to around 8-10 universities, ideally, 3-4 ambi, 2-3 mod, 3 safe(USC (i assume) + 2(preferably ones with good scholarships)) Any other unis i can add/subtract? PRIORITIES: At this stage, my priority is getting a good job http://www.edulix.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif But, off late I have been intrigued by Malware Analysis, etc. Maybe I might do a SANS Cert on that too http://www.edulix.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif Any good unis which have decent research & good work opportunities? Also, any mod/safes have any funding opportunities? OFF CURRENT TOPIC: Is Job scenario in USA for security hot and happening like in India? A long post. Hopefully useful to ones looking to make big in this field. PS: IS my GRE too low to apply to above unis? I was clocking around 1400 in mocks, had a bad day on the D-day.
