  1. Look into the requirements of the schools you are interested in applying to, but generally this is a pretty good score, congratulations!
  2. Each school has different requirements, and usually they have admission statistics on their sites. Take a look on the statistics of the schools you are interested in and then decide whether you want to retake the test.
  3. Thank you for your reply! Well, the problem is, they state the mean scores, not the minimum scores. means being from 530 to 680.
  4. Hello, I am an old member. I am interested in applying for PhD in clinical psychology, and have taken the TOEFL and GRE in 2011. TOEFL is no longer valid and I will be retaking it in September this year, but GRE is valid for 3 more years. I am an international student, thus my verbal GRE score was low. Here they are: V: 390 (146) Q: 670 (152) AW: 4.0 I also have experience in working in clinics and have published one article, one is to be published soon, and a third one is in preparation. I am only concerned about the verbal score and have been wandering whether I should try to improve it and retake the test or focus my energy on something else (i.e. research) since I am currently also a full-time employee. Thank you in advance.
  5. I've taken my GRE on July 1st. It's July 16th today and the results still haven't appeared in my account. How long am I supposed to wait until I begin worrying? Thanks :D
  6. I disagree, it helped me with Math A LOT. Great strategy advice!
  7. Hi, I still don't have my AWA score. I don't know if it's worth the risk to retake the GRE because I don't know if the results will arrive before the deadline (December 1st on the majority of Universities I want to apply). My TOEFL score is 102/120. I want to apply for PhD so I guess the best thing now would be to concentrate on research and the application process rather than retaking the GRE. And there is always next year :) We'll see.
  8. We're in the same boat... I still am not sure about what to do. I am still waiting for the results in analytical writing though.
  9. I don't get this. I've read somewhere that, if you i.e. have in the 1st attempt scores 200 Verbal 790 Quant and in the second 500 Verbal 600 Quant, your final score will be 500 Verbal 790 Quant.

    GRE in july....

Hello! Maths - I was getting 500 and 600 max on practice questions, so the 680 I got on the real test came as a positive surprise! I really can't remember the questions exactly, but I can say that algebra was the most present, I had a few geometry questions (circles, triangles, and a cube), 4 graphs questions (mainly percents), 1 question of combinations and permutations, and 2 question of coordinate geometry (which were really easy). I also had one question on functions (to find the slope) which I never did learn, lol. There were many questions with means and a couple with rates. Oh, and one question with those strange symbols pertaining to an imagined operation :D Verbal - I've learned from the book "Essential words for the GRE", 800 words and word roots, but that is definitely not enough for a good score - I got 380  The first question was an analogy, but I didn't know the words, also the fill-ins, which I usually did okay on the practice tests, were tricky. And I was getting 450 on the POWERPREP verbal tests and above 500 on the paper-based in the ETS's 10th Edition. I've been reading on this board about a Barron's list of 4500 words, I guess this will be the book I will stick to if I'll need to retake the GRE.

    GRE in july....

I took my exam today. Math was a peace of cake but I didn't do well on the verbal section. Not that I hoped to... :(
  13. Don't worry about the clock. I had the same issue on my PC but at the test center everything worked normally. No advice to offer though, just use the time to learn as many words as you can.
