  1. Hi Everyone! I'm relatively new to this forum. I will be starting the LSE msc economics program next month, but my ultimate goal is to get into a top 20 economics phd program in the US. My fields of interest are international economics, mechanism design, and economic development. I majored economics during my undergrad studies with a solid GPA, and meet the minimum maths requirements for econ grad school, except real analysis and other more advance maths and statistics courses. I intend using the masters as a stepping stone since we don't usually send students directly into the phd from my school (atleast I've never heard of one). Any advice will be very much appreciated in terms of my chances of getting into top 20 after LSE, and generally how I can do well in the masters at LSE. Looking forward to your responses and thanks in advance.
  2. Thank you very much for your response. Actually I'm planning of doing a phd in economics in the US but would like to do a master degree first in order to make a competitive application since my undergraduate school is relatively less known, with inadequate maths preparation, and not that impressive GRE scores. Below is my profile so you can give a more broader advise: PROFILE: Type of Undergrad: top public university in my country Undergrad GPA: 3.91/4 Type of Grad: none Grad GPA: none GRE: Q 770, V 540 Math Courses: econometrics I and II (A), mathematics for economics I and II (A), statistics for economics I and II (A) Econ Courses: economic theory I and II (A), industrial organisation (A-), public finance I and II (A), microeconomic theory (A), macroeconomic theory(A), agricultural economics I and II (A), cost benefit analysis (A) Other Courses: mostly sociology, philosophy and archaelogy. Letters of Recommendation: none known outside my country Research Experience: none Teaching Experience: econometrics for one year Research Interests: applied macroeconomics SOP: standard Other: concern over GRE and maths preparation!! thank you.
  3. hi everyone! i'm an international student who would like to do my masters in economics in Canada. i recently took the gre and had Q770, V540, still waiting for AW. i have no solid maths courses like real analysis, linear algebra..., but i have done some econometrics and applied maths and stats courses for economics(all A's). i would be very grateful if you could advise on the schools that i more likely to get in with good funding. thank you>
  4. ok. just be confident and have a positive spirit. don't waste too much time on a question you're finding it difficult to answer, make an intelligent guess and move on. wish you all the best in the exam and let me know how it goes. best of luck!!
  5. thanks. the quant section was much difficult than i thought because i did relatively well on my practice test (Q 790 V 590 on powerprep). the first five questions were ok but i wasted soo much time on the data interpretation questions and a few other word problems and had to surmise on the last two questions. anyway, are you taking the exam anytime soon?
  6. the experimental section is identified so you don't need to worry
  7. is this enough to get me into a good phd econs programme?
  8. just thinking:whistle:
