  1. Hi guys, I haven been admitted into Econ MA in BU and Econ MA in NYU, which one is better? Which one can help me a little if I still want to do PhD later? I am so confused right now. I am also admitted into SUNY Stony Brook Econ MA, how about this one? Thx~
  2. Hi guys, I haven been admitted into MA in BU and MA in NYU, which one is better? Which one can help me a little if I still want to do PhD later? I am so confused right now. Thx~
  3. I am also wondering.....has anyone heard from University of Florida so far? Plus, can anyone give some comments on this Econ PhD program in UFL? I almost cannot find any information about it, and I am so confused and anxious.
  4. I thought BU was a good place to go before... but it sounds disappointing now. Could you tell me a bit more about this school and its MA program? I applied to the MA program, but I can find little information about it. Thx~
  5. Hey guys, I applied SUNY Stony Brook MA Econ program, this is a program that just started in 2010. They say in their webpage that people in MA program can convert to PhD program if they do good and want to continue, and I want to have a try. Is anyone here from Econ program in Stony Brook or has anyone ever heard of it? is the PhD program there good? Any suggestions? Thx a lot~
  6. Hi, true that it does not provide any clear information about the program, but I cannot find any information elsewhere either. Anyway, here is another ranking, and this one looks more reasonable 2010 Ranking of Economics Graduate Schools — PhDs.org Graduate School Guide . (I tried multi quote but I did not make it work). Maybe we can see what the coordinator will reply to zkk and get more information. I am just wondering that did you choose this program because u chose to work after MA? Did you think about going to PhD after this MA?
  7. Hi, I get the ranking from here: Rankings at IDEAS: Economics Departments but this does not say the ranking is for MA or PhD, just "Economics Department". I checked this because my friend reminded me of this idea econ ranking the other day, I haven't checked usnews this year... BTW, I checked BU website today, and under the page "MA Job Candidates" there were like over a hundred names listed there! I started to wonder a little if this program is a "money machine" like what they described NYU MA program in another thread...
  8. my idea, (though u have known much about my idea), lse is better choice if u did not want to go to US phd that much.
  9. Hi, How many here have hear from SUNY Albany? Has anyone hear from University of Florida so far? I wonder if the admission of Albany has ended. I was hoping to hear from them before April, but day after day there is no news from them. About UFL, they said that they had problem with funding so they started admission later this year, and they started to give offers recently. Has anyone hear from UFL so far? Thx~
  10. Hi Isoquant10, I am in Econ 4th year, BA. I do not know if it helps, but my public finance professor always says that to be a good economics student, one should read everything you can get. He also said that "what an economist cares other than economics are history and math". I myself often regret that I did not read enough, nor learn history enough in the past years. Hope this helps, and wish u success in ur study.
  11. Hi Gillian. I did not know u want to go to US Phd this much. And the size of lse program is indeed large, according to u. I wonder if u r determined to go on to phd.
  12. Sigh. It is so difficult to find any information. I searched every tread in this forum talking about BU but did not help much. I checked ideas econ ranking this morning, and BU Econ Department ranks 12. This is the highest ranking in all the places I applied to, but such an expensive program!
  13. Hey guys, I really want to know how good the MA Econ program in BU is. I can find little comment from the internet about this program, and I know no one from there. I know that the Department of Economics of BU has a good reputation (by searching the ranking), but I wonder if the MA program is as good. I had this doubt since I read some negative comment about MA Econ program in NYU, about having different professors for MA program and PhD program and so on.This program is quite expensive (no funding at all for all MA students), and so is living in Boston. I really hope to know more about this program before I can decide. Thx~
