I applied this year to a limited number of PhD programs (Marketing - CB), limited to my immediate geographic area. One was top 10 (which I know I had a slim chance at), another was top 30-50 (which I thought I had a decent chance at). I am interested in a profile evaluation and suggestions for which schools I should target for next year. Here is my profile:
Undergrad: BBA Top 10 School, 3.4 GPA
Graduate: MBA Top 10 School, 3.6 GPA
GMAT: 670 (42 Q, 40 V, 6.0 AWA)
Teaching Experience: 2 years Adjunct teaching (Marketing and Business courses) at undergraduate and graduate level.
Work Experience: 16+ years working in marketing (all disciplines)
Publications/Research: published articles in Marketing industry trade magazines. No academic research, but experience with marketing research projects at work.
LOR: strong LOR from teaching colleagues.
Age: 42 Is my age a big factor?
In addition to profile evaluation, I would appreciate thoughts on re-applying to a school next year. Obviously there is no harm, but should I radically re-write the SOP or make any other changes? Thanks for your help!
