Hi all !
First the stats:
I am in 4th year of my B.Tech (CSE) from an average known university (USIT, GGSIPU, Delhi)
GRE:
Quant:800
Verbal:650
AWA:5
Not given TOEFL yet
CGPA (until 5th semester):7.7 (79%)
CBSE class 12: 89.0%
CBSE class 10: 95.2%
The only thing I can call a research experience is a 2 month summer training in a reputed research institute (JNCASR).
I have been pretty active in extracurricular activities, and have had "international exposures" in the same.
I expect to get good LORs.
I want to get some sort of scholarship.
I want to apply for MS in CS in US universities this year. I am not sure how I should shortlist universities because I cant get an idea about how competitive admissions can get in good universities like CMU, John Hopkins, MIT, etc. For his reason, I am not able to categorize universities as "dream", "average" and "safe". For example will putting CMU as my "dream" university be ok for my profile or its too long a shot to be put even as dream university ? Is putting Pennsylvania State University as my average university fine ? What should be the "crude list" which I narrow down to the list of universities which I will actually apply to, and how exactly should I narrow them down ?
Any suggestions or tips or resources to get a better idea are highly appreciated. Also, please tell me if my profile seems to be good enough to apply to a good university or I need to give GRE again.
Thank you very much in advance !!
