Thanks much for the encouraging input. I will then sit for the exam again and hopefully raise the GMAT to the range of 650 - 680. If I get over 680, should I reconsider my school choices to include more competitive schools? Would my age next year (35) be a factor (help or hindrance)?

I am currently considering my chances for applying to a Ph D in accounting for fall 2012. What are my chances at these schools (Kent State, Louisiana Tech, Southern Illinois, Washington State, Texas Tech, University of Kansas, Univ of Texas -San Antonio, Florida International, Florida Atlantic? My stats are below: BBA(accounting) and MBA(finance) from regional state university(3.8 GPA both) Math/econ background - typical undergrad micro, macro, stats, calculus, and advanced stats and econ CPA (7 year experience in Big 4 and regional firm) Finance Director (current position) - a large nonprofit organization Research experience - co-authored one paper during undergrad (paper was not published) GMAT 630 (Q 43 and V 34) - I plan to retake this next year if I don't have a chance for 2012. Research interest - still open (maybe more behavioral- auditor judgment?) Thank you!
