Where to stay within T-range in the Boston area for 10 days
HeartAttackGril replied to interview's topic in PhD in Economics
given a distance epsilon that you wish to be from T, we can find some delta such that the T is delta far from the Econ department. So a solution exists but I donut know what it is. HTH -Lil B -

My university has Mosaic. U mirin? -
I took a ton of hard math courses, made straight A's in them, did a lot of research, etc. I passed the important comp in my field with flying colors, so I was just forthcoming about it.I had a lot of really, really, bad things happen my first year but I didn't mention them in my application, either. Just not my style.

You can do what I did: Fail out of a top 50/top 10 in your field. Get depressed for a while, take math to get over it, then listen to Electric Wizard and wear jean shorts to EVERYTHING. ...and reapply.

I vote for just going to OSU.

I am writing a Master's thesis and taking 2 upper-div math courses per semester. It's busy but do-able. I am also working part time.

Honestly not surprised. The second half of Rudin isn't necessarily a breeze at some points. Liamc, I think your criticism is baseless - it's not that hard for situations like this to happen. I was advised poorly many times - fell for it once, ignored it the second time. One bit of advice was to "just go to grad analysis if you get an A in Analysis I, and skip Analysis II." Yes, this was a respected, capable, experienced adviser.

It could be a bridge course at some schools. Sometimes "intro to analysis" is a course designed to take students from a "proofs" class to a Rudin-level class, serving as a transition.

I haven't been to Greensboro specifically but I did grow up in SC and spent some time in NC. I love the west side of the state! I mostly had a binding constraint on urban locations because my fiancee needs a job, so UNCG seemed like a perfect place to apply. Urban location, warm, ENR and Health fields, micro emphasis...sounds like heaven.

I'm finishing a Masters now, so I applied directly to the PhD. I've already got some paper ideas in the pipes and a coauthor but I can't stay here for a couple of reasons.

There are good courses that don't use Rudin. What book does the class use?

In at UNC-G. Excellent. I'd love to do health and enviro if they'll fund me - should know in a few weeks. Great start of the season for me!

In http://theworldsbestever.s3.amazonaws.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Batman-is-surfing-your-argument-is-invalid.gif If I go to UNC-Greensboro or Kentucky I'm hoping there will be a good opportunity for me to do environmental and/or health work, more ideally modeling, and even more ideally with stochastic optimal control. Here's to hoping. I like other things too, but that stuff is my current love affair.

Rolling? Excellent. That does make me feel a bit better. Ill have to dig up your profile.

:( x 1000 for me. Haven't heard from UK and it's the best place for me, I think. Although I'm apparently under review from one of the math programs I applied to, so maybe I'll get some good news there.
