I applied there as my backup because the other nine schools I applied to are extremely competitive. I did undergrad Physics/Theology and am about to finish my MS in Physics. I was told by a number of economists that my vita would make me quite competitive at high-ranked schools, but I have only (formally) taken Econ 101 (four years ago) and Intermediate Micro (taking Int Macro right now while I'm finishing up my thesis), so I've not gotten my hopes up too much. Getting offered the Distinguished Doctoral Fellowship was a confidence booster, to say the least.
Northwest Arkansas is gorgeous, though; and that fellowship certainly makes it even more appealing. I won't be too disappointed if that's where I end up!
