  1. looks like I have opposite problem - my third semester will be easier than year 1 (and grades will be better) so I want grades to be accepted to have better GPA on application)
  2. That is why I mentioned I had 1 year of graduate micro, 1 year of graduate macro, 3 semesters of stats courses (1 semester in grad school, 2 semesters in undergrad) and 1 semester of econometrics (but in undergrad school not in grad school)
  3. Mostly because of grading curve not being well correspondent to grade requirements
  4. Well, 60% of the cohort (3 out of 5) were lower than required 3.3 gpa and were all made to leave:)
  5. The department made me and several other students transfer to MSc , so it was not my decision to withdraw:)
  6. it is a US masters (in fact, a consolation from a PHd) and I want to apply to European PhD programs (as they have less coursework)
  7. I should mention that coursework includes Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, but does not include Econometrics (although Statistics course had some econometrics parts)
  8. Well, I am actually going to Mathematical Finance Phd but as there is no specific forum....
  9. Is it possible to pass CFA or Actuary exams while doing PhD?
  10. Choosing between: - BU PhD in Mathematical Finance (with scholarship) - Bocconi PhD in Statistics and Applied Mathematics (with scholarship) - Columbia MSc in Financial Mathematics (no scholarship) Where would you advise me to go?
  11. Well, I am more into industry but that's quite flexible
  12. What can you tell about the rankings, reputation, attrition rates, placement records?
  13. I have a couple of questions: - What happens, if a person signs an offer and then withdraws (before the start of the program)? - Does student receive a MSc degree, if he/she withdraws from PhD program after completing coursework and passing all exams, but before completing thesis?
  14. Concerning Bocconi: anyone heard of PhD in Applied Mathematics and Statistics Program?
