1. hey guys... i need some help with this one: "a cyclist bikes x distance at 10mph and returns over the same path at 8mph. whats the cyclist's average rate for the round trip in mph?" (a) 9.0 (b) 8.9 and few more random numbers at first i thought i could just add 10 and 8 together and divide the sum by 2, to get the average - but this seems way to easy. and 9.0 isn't the right answer anyway :distracted: please help! :disgust:
2. its good to hear that its not too hard... but why would you pay 190$ for the test and not study? im curious :orange:
3. I think youre misunderstanding... What Im trying to say is that it is not possible that the greatest possible no. of students can be 121, because theb the no. of total students woulnt be 236 anymore. So 121 would take algebra AND chemistry (we dont count them twice!): 142-121=21 would take only algebra. So the total no. Of students would be 142 (=121+21).
4. I think I found a mistake: In a graduating class of 236 students, 142 took algebra and 121 took chemistry. Whats the greatest possible number of students that could have taken both algebra and chemistry? If we'd solve it with the Venn diagram, i think the least possible number would be 27. In the explanation it says, that the answer is 121, since every student in chemistry class could also take algebra. But then the total number of students wouldn't be 236 but 142... Am I wrong?
5. Math is not hard at all, it's just that I have some trouble finding the easiest and fastest way to solve the problems! I felt the Powerprep was a little harder than the Barron's questions though...maybe because of the pressure of time. I get nervous easily when I know I don't have much time left... My test is on Thursday next week...and right now I'm freaking out everytime I can't solve a problem. Your post calmed me down a little I'll go through the Powerprep and ETS Guide a few more times... hope it works out then :)
6. I'm stuck again. :torn: Please help. :cower:
7. its really that easy?!!! gosh, its making me crazy - sometimes i just have no clue how to solve a problem :crushed: but the explanations are so simple! ugh#!!!
8. I'm having trouble with this one too: :crushed:
9. Hello, I cant find a way to solve this... please help! :blue:
10. Thanks for your help. I found this: https://grequantum.com/grepowerpep I think there are some quite useful explanations :orange:
11. Oh okay... Thank you again ^^ but do you know if theres any other "good" prep material online? (to practice harder math questions) :distracted:
