  3. SHOULD GOVERNMENTS SPEND MORE MONEY ON IMPROVING ROADS AND HIGHWAYS, OR SHOULD GOVENMENTS SPEND MORE MONEY ON IMPROVING PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION? WHY? The main role of every government, at least the one elected in democratic elections, is to give a fair chance for a success in life and provide optimal living conditions to its citizens. In order to do that, government should invest money in countries infrastructure, but it must have a proper plan how money should be spend. I think that government should spend more money on improving public transportation, rather than on improving roads and highways. This government decision would have a positive influence on the environment, fast decline in traffic accidents, and have a huge impact on a job market. Pollution is a problem, for both develop and developing countries, and solution is not simple or cheap. Many cars that people drive, and people do not change their habits easily, have devastating impact on the environment. In situations like this government should react, but only to help its citizens. For example, by investing in public transportation, buying more hybrid buses and providing cheaper tickets for them, government would solve the pollution problem very quickly. Other very important problem is traffic accidents, usually connected with younger and inexperienced drivers. Government should resolve this problem, or try to lower traffic accidents, with free tickets for students. For instance, every student should get free bus ticket, therefore by using public transportation in daily routine, students will immediately influence high number of traffic accidents. Creation of jobs, investments, development, and many other political massages are a constant words coming out of TV set, a daily influx of statements in this time of global financial crises. By investing in public transport, government will create new jobs. It will hire people to build new public transportation system, and then when system is finish and operational, there will be a number of jobs for bus drivers, administrative workers and mechanics. Governments, responsible for welfare of its citizens, by investing in public transportation system, will improve the life quality of people and protect the environment. I think that investing in public transportation system is a good idea.
  4. SOME PEOPLE BELIVE THAT UNIVERSITY STUDENTS SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO ATTEND CLASSES. OTHER BELIEVE THAT GOING TO CLASS SHOULD BE OPTIONAL TO STUDENTS. WHICH POINT OF VIEW DO YOU AGREE WITH? In a last couple of years, with successful development of computer technologies and emerging new ways of a communication, there are almost unlimited possibilities for the exploitation of these technologies. Possibilities like this one, more than ever, spark the discussion at universities about the necessity for students to attend classes. In my opinion students should attend their classes for a number of reasons, such as proper comprehension of curriculum, development of teamwork and adequate preparation for professional carrier. I fully understand and realize various positive sides of, so called, distant learning which is nowadays available on an every continent and to anybody with the Internet connection and a computer. It does not matter any more, if one lives, for instance in New York, USA or in such remote place like Surdulica, Serbia, but if technology is available one can attend any university in the world. This way of learning will save some money which can be invested in something else, but also it will save a lot of time. On the other hand, human is a social animal, we tend to work, study and live together. We are predisposed to go and learn at a university, and not to sit in some remote village or a dark apartment, and like that obtain university degree. With a help of professional teachers it is much easer to obtain new knowledge and as a result of social interaction with other students, teamwork is develop. Also, universities can prepare students for their professional carriers, and they can find additional information about possible work opportunities and reputation of numerous companies. The bond between students is very strong, and this bond will stay strong in the future, and they can seek advice and help from a fellow student if ever needed. In spite of wide spread usage of new technologies in places of higher learning, which I find very positive, in my opinion students should be required to attend their classes. In they attend classes they will be fully prepared for future professional challenges.
