  1. I can understand the frustration. Perhaps I should have waited a few months until everything cooled down for everyone before posting. I am not concerned with my profile (there is little I can do about that at this point) rather on getting a few additional, unbiased opinions on an effective range to apply to from people who have or are going through the process. I guess I didn't provide enough information though. Nevertheless, I think I did get some good advice from this thread. I'll keep thinking about what to do taking into consideration all of everyone's suggestions and browse the forum for more info. I wish everyone the best of luck with your upcoming decisions.
  2. Okay thanks I will try that. I was trying to get some insight from people who have gone through/are going through the process themselves first hand. But it seems like this forum is targeted to a different audience. Thanks for all the advice everyone.
  3. haha . . . thanks, hopefully you guys are right.
  4. Hi Kate, The first question anyone will ask you is what kind of math background do you have so far. Have you been taking classes like Real analysis, probability theory, statistics etc. If not, that should be the first step in my opinion. If you don't have the time to build up a strong math foundation by graduation, it may be beneficial to do a masters first.
  5. Hi everyone, I'm new here and I just had a question: I got an A- in my grad micro class. Could this really hurt my chances of getting into a top 20 school. I didn't find it hard, I just made a bunch of silly mistakes on the final. The rest of my grades are all A's and A+'s (standard math and econ courses: undergrad micro, econometrics, RA, probability, etc.). I'm just concerned that this one slip up will negate 4 years of good performance I'm in a top 15 school. Opinions?
