  1. Hi all...i also have the same query....additionally i have the OG 10th edition..will it make significant sense to purchase 11th edition ?? Would be grateful if somebody can put some light on comparison betn 10th and 11th edition... thanks in advance champs,, bossisboss
  2. hi dude.... first of all many many congratulations for the fantabulous score... i think 750 is a cracker of a score... well i need some advice from u...currently i am working full time and i want to give my gmat by mid may- last week of may...ich means i have more than a mth and i can devote 2 hrs per day/ weekdays and 10 hrs during weekends...i have given gmat before with decent preps and got 560...Q 45 and V-23... i did kaplan, crack gmat and [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] ...i dont know what went wrong in the d'day i really went cold with verbal. now i want to really crack the gmat with atleast a score of 650...what would u recommend to me in order to improve my verbal ... I have no choices but to get a 650 score before june.... so plss advice thanks in advance Srikant
  3. hey ...how valuable those two cents are...well...tryst 04, just thanking u on this wud not be enuf...u really deserve something more...i owe you some bottles of beer if u r a indian and if at all we are lucky to meet... anyways 2 things... firstly , as they say ' a picture is better than thousand words' its not silly et all to visualise things to make the para more interesting...we subconsciously try to visualise things when we read...( if u read mills and boons or even hitchcock)...just that rc passages are less interesting... and secondly, the way you try to make sense out of ur rc passages tries to just about summarize the best of all strategies that i was using....so i wud surely try to keep ur bullet points in mind... thanx a lot anyways bossisboss
  4. well thanx for the input riteshb... will surely do something to read those with some interest..huh...only till nov 3rd though...;) bossisboss
  5. quite a simple pythogorean triplets...
  6. If you look at the question and check what sense its trying to make...choice A is the perfect fit... i am able to explain why exactly past perfect is used but...all the other options are contains simple tense errors and if u go by the poi method you will boil down to choice A.
  7. that was some patient explanation...huff.... great job bossisboss
  8. hi batman ... u dint mention your score ??? or this is ur practice test score ?? plss elaborate bossisboss
  9. hi tryst04, thanx a ton for ur advice... i am trying to curb my mistakes per set of verbal Qs as much as possible... and like u did, i also categorize the type of rc's which bothers me the most...my major area of concern as regards to rc passages is BIO passages...i tried different techniques ...i.e. full reading/understanding the passage ( for abut 4-6 mins) and then answering, making notes and understanding the structure and also tried rapid skimming thru the passage and going back to the passage for each answers...i found that the skimming strategy was the worst....but am still not able to find the best method to crack Bio passages as i am getting 2-3 mistakes in that... and as u said i would be losing easily 6-7 qs on a very bad day with 2 bio passages...and reading those boring stuff takes a hell lot of time... plss advice bossisboss
  10. gr88 effort dude... congrats... this really motivates me as my test falls on the 3rd of nov and this being my second attempt, am leaving no grey areas at all... i finished princeton review, kaplan and as per TestMagic experts i am sticking to [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip]... i have one question though...as my main concern is verbal and in [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] i am getting 1-2 mistakes in CR per 113 Qs...2 mistakes per RC and 2-3 mistakes in SC...obviously i am trying to get that better...but on an average to score above 700+ and an average Q46-48 how many mistakes can i afford in Verbal..i am getting around 7-8 mistakes, on a normal day..??? thanx in advance bossisboss P.s. I understand that gmat qs are not equally weighed and things might differ...but generally questions in which i mess are typically moderate to diff qs.
  11. hi its me again... just for a small correction in the above post... my gmat date is Nov 3rd and not october 3rd... luv bib
  12. hi erin...i have booked my gmat date on the 3rd of oct. I am on the verge of finishing [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip]...and my aim is to reach 700 anyhow... like many, my main concern is verbal and my question is if i manage a Q46-48 in Quant....what shud be my scaled score so that i could be in the 700 range... wud it be around 32 + ...and if i want to score that score of say Q 35 in verbals ..how many mistakes can i afford in that section...?? thats my main qs ... this thought came to my mind as i was checking out the number of mistakes i was doing per set of 13-15 qs of cr,rc and sc....of course i am looking not to repeat these mistakes but still wanted to get an idea ... thanx in advance regds bossisboss
  13. Too good vingmat...thats by far the highest score i have ever heard in gmat...i have took nov 3rd as my gmat date...finished princeton review and midway thru [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip]...finding RC little tough...(was baffled by the first passage itself...the useless thesis on CAFFINE)...right now on V 35 range in verbal...can i improve to atleast 40+ range before my date???
  14. hi there... thanx ursula for the advice on cracking bold face CR's.BTW, I heard from one my friends that BOLD Faced CR's are more often than not, experimental qs...i found some sense in his conclusion that as they are not mentioned nor given as examples in any of the PR, Kaplan or [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] books...they shud be Expt qs...if thats so they thats good news to damit..what say ?? ;)
  15. hi everybody... first things first.... congrats for ur cracker score...and better still ur useful tips...and gr88 insights by ursula...thanx a lot... this page itself has given me some good grasp of gmat and ways to master it... i have some doubts though... I had taken gmat alst yr...got a very sad score of 530 ( not worth to even think of the break up )...but now i am more focussed and keen to score a healthy 700 +... i am doing pretty while in math ( upwards 45 )..but my major weak area is verbal...25-30 ) which is very very less.. i have [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip],Kaplan and PR...almost finished with PR now will do [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] and then last with kaplan... but my main question is whether if its poss to score 700 upwards...with a job in hand...coz i need to work ( out of money ) i have to give gmat by oct/nov maxx...which means i have 8 -10 weeks in hand...how many hrs i need to put per day /per week in that case ?? after reading different forums i am already learning to do better in verbal... one more thing... is my sequence of practicing books i.e. doing PR , [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] and then Kap good or i need to modify it...?? one more thing...how shud i sequence my practice tests ?? once a week or after finishing each section ?? plss help me with this... thanx in advance... Regds Srikant
