Hi I'm currently in my last semester of MS program and have fortunately been accepted into a PhD program a month ago. Although I've planned to graduate in time, there is now a good chance that I won't. The earliest next possible time for me is this Fall by which time I should start my PhD already, so my questions are:
1. Is it okay to go to PhD without actually getting the MS degree, though I've done 99% of the work? I didn't register a 1 credit hour course in time, which stops me from graduating. It might be negotiated out but nothing is guaranteed.
2. The PhD program did not ask for updated transcript or for MS diploma (yet), is it typical that they ask for them later when you start the program or they no longer care for those once the admission decision's been made?
3. ultimately, can they revoke the admission if I performed badly in the last semester, and/or did not graduate from MS program at all? I mean they probably can, so I guess I'm really asking if there's a good chance they'll do that.
On one hand I'm probably taking too many courses in one semester, on the other hand I sort of slacked off once I got admitted.
