  1. Thank you nitinag and pami!!! Pami, i'am sure you'll do better than that, cause i've seen some of your essays posted here. Nechitoaia
  2. I`ve got the final result. TWE 5.5 and the final score 267. That's fine, i think. Good luck to you all, and thanks again TestMagic. Nechitoaia
  3. Good Job Pami!!! All the best in the future! Nechitoaia
  4. Fish8me, Perhaps you deserved a better score, but since the result is above the score you were required to have, I think you've done a good job:) . So congratulations  and keep on!!! Nechitoaia
  5. Fish8me! I wish you luck, you will do just fine, I am sure! If your previous TWE was rated 6 points, then i sounds logic you would get 12 now :) Nechitoaia
  6. Thank you pami! All the best with your TOEFL!!! I would just like to add that the Grammar Exercises found here on TEST MAGIC were excelent, and i was fortunate to see how Erin did emphasise the use of those Determiners;) The My results on TEST PREP, were close to the ones obtaind in the official test, TEST I 217-273 I think, and TEST II 220-...I don't remember exactly the other score. The listening section was a little bit harder than the one on TEST PREP, but it was easier than the listening section provided by the CAMBRIDGE Tefl Review. And also i found the reading section to be more difficult than the one in TEST PREP. Ok, I hope all of you will get a score much better than I did! Nechitoaia
  7. All right, I`ve got your point! I should have explained it more clearly. Anyway, I am optimistic, that is, I don't think that cultural distances are so broad as some postmodernist thinkers claim. In other words, the dichotomy which states a subject, an individual, as distinct to the world surrounding him is a very old one in Western thinking, as it is in Oriental thinking, I guess. And that common point can mitigate the initial rough dialogue betwen people belonging to different cultures. I once wrote an essay about buddhism and it was so interesting to read about it. I don't know if you read a book called "Anil's Obsession", it was written by the author of "The English Patient"; a film was made after the latter. There is an indian character also in The English Patient, but what is interesting in Anil's Obsession is that the action takes place in Sri Lanka, which is the only country where buddhism has survived as such, and not by mixing its feature with other religions. I must stop, this is a TWE forum :) All the best, Nechitoaia
  8. Hello, my results were Listening 24 Structure 13-30 Reading 28 _____________ 217-277 I needed 237, which means I need at least 2 points on TWE, don't I? I will post later how it was like, right now i just need to sleep :) , but I wanted to thank you all for your help. :) Nechitoaia

    Information!!!

Hello, I `ve just returned from the test center, a bit bewildered. At TWE I had the subject " Do you prefer to study in a group or single". And I wish to approximate where i stand. I have used expressions like " my forte is Philosophy " and " my bete noir is Physics". I know the words are derived from French, I found them in a Reading preparing book for TOEFL, but was in all right to use them in this context, that is, to designate y favourite subject and the subject I dislike most? Was it Ok to say, " they just need to revise the subject, for a day before the test"? and " i need to study just the day before the exam?" Is is right to say " The subject in which I have less experience" and " I have some weaker points in my study fields"? And finally, was it right to say "I want to have a better understanding in a shorter time" Impacient, Nechitoaia
  10. Gautam, You come from India, you should know better what interior and exterior mean :) . Didn't Buddha say that world is a dream, an illusion, Maya? The subject, the speaker has an interior, and the outside world is exterior to him. Thank you, you've been really helpful. I hope i'll have a good sleep tonight :( Nechitoaia
  11. Pami, thank you very much for your comment!
  12. Some people spend their entire lives in one place. Others move a number of times throughout their lives, looking for a better job, house, community, or even climate. Which do you prefer: staying in one place or moving in search of another place? Use reasons and specific examples to support your opinion. __________________________ Some people are really fond of their dwelling place, whereas others simply move from town to town, always discontent, trying to find a better place than they already have. I prefer to stay in one place, because I do not think that the exterior conditions count that much. Also, I am a conservative person, and I find hard to accomodate muyself to entirely different conditions. Life is not an incessant journey. If we wanted yo be happy, we would need stability in our lives. There are exterior conditions and interior conditions to be met if we want to live a happy life. My point is that the interior conditions are much more important than the exterior ones, that is, it is much more important to be a certain kind of person, to have a certain kind of personality, than to find different exterior location, like a new town, climate or job. One famous romanian philosopher, Gabriel Liiceanu, used to say that " The sky is the same; it does not matter from what location on the ground one is looking at it". What we can infer from this phrase is that, from a certain point of view, all the places are the same. Moreover, to move elsewhere means to be able to swiftly establish relations with other people, to have a new home and familiarize yourself with it, and generally speaking, to be able to start a life in entirely different situations. As I have argued previously, those new conditions are not that much different than the previous ones. Yet, there is a change after all, and conservative persons, like I am, tend to undergo those kinds of changes with less ease. We all like to travel, and it is a such exciting feeling to stay for a few weeks in a new town, and visit its museums, religious places, theatres and so on. But I think that a week or two is enough, and to live a life under such incessant conditions is not right at all. An old saying from my country tells that at the and of a person's life, after seeking the truth all over the world, one simply has to return home and to discover that the truth was right there, in the place where was born. I know that this is true for myself. My native town is the place where almost all of my friends are living, where I have spent the most cheerful moments of my life. To conclude, I prefer not to move from place to place because I am a conservative person, and also because I care much more about the inner changes than the exterior, material changes. Living in a single location makes possible a sort of stability in our lives.
  13. Gautam, My problem is that I don not have a spelling checker, cause I use an internet caffe where they don't have Word, and I am not aware of most of my misspellings. Yes, the "sow" one was obvious but that is not the case with many others. Thanks indeed for your advices! I am going to post a new, final essay here, maybe you'll have time to snatch a glance at it.:) Nechitoaia
  14. You are taking the test on Monday too? Good luck!!! And take care:) I started to ask myself why didn't I start to learn more early:doh: And I fancy all sorts of situations, like arriving too late to the test center, or being out of time and knowing at the same time ( your advice. remember?:) )what the correct answers are to the left questions. I just hope I won't feel dissapointed after the listening section, cause if that happends, I will lose my temper and make more mistakes than I usually do. I sow today on TV Indiana Jones, and it was a such wonderful movie, and instead of enjoying it, I was very concentrated on the vocabulary used by actors:doh: After the lest I will post my result and I'll be looking for yours. And if it will be OK, we`ll establish an hour when we will drink a beer, at entirely different locations. ;) Good luck! Nechitoaia
  15. Chaudhary, thanks indeed for your post! "One more thing whic is very IMPORTANT ... instead of using words like secondly and thirdly ...which look a li'l bit childish and might bring down ur score a bit. use words like... furthermore, in addition to that..etc . This is the only advice i can give u on the otherwise very thoughtout essay." I have encountered this kind of paragraph introduction in an essay posted on test magic. Think I am lucky to find out two days before my test that this was not an apt introduction of an paragraph. [clap] So again thank you. Nechitoaia
