  2. Has anyone received any letters from Wharton School of economics asking them to apply? Yesterday, I received a second letter from them, which I find strange because my GRE scores are mediocre at best. They were able to obtain my information from the ETS/GRE. I feel that this is just a gimmick to have me pay the admissions fee.
  3. One of my recommenders did not like most of my safety schools (i.e., UNM). He suggested that I re-apply the following year if I am not accepted into one of the better schools this round. For those of you trying again for 2014, what are your thoughts on this advice? Were you in the prior attempt accepted into some safety school but rejected the acceptance to re-apply to your top choices?
  4. Hello readers! I primarily joined this blogging site to further asses my possibility of being admitted into an Econ PhD program for the Fall 2014 semester. Before reading some posts, I thought my academic history was strong. Unfortunately, my low GRE scores (158Q, 149V, 3.5 AW) bring me to the bottom of the pool of applicants, but I'm optimistic that some schools will overlook them when they see my grades (that are decent), letters of recommendation, and research experience. By my presence here, I hope to add diversity (in terms of GRE scores) to the pool of active bloggers. Perhaps more non-superstar students like myself will be encouraged to share their stories and progress in the admissions game.
