Hi, I was wondering if I am a qualified candidate for a marketing PHD. I am considering, not yet decided on whether I should pursue a quantitative marketing PHD. I like the research but I'm not sure if business school or a PHD program is right for me. I am starting my 3rd year at my university and plan on getting a masters so there is still a lot of time to decide but I wanted to hear other people's thoughts on this matter.
Undergrad: Theoretical Math with minor in stats and econ
GPA: 3.4 (Planning on raising it to 3.6 before I graduate)
University: ~30ish
Masters: Plan to pursue a masters in applied statistics
GMAT: 650 (47Q/33V) (fell sick shortly before the test and didn't want to cancel it so I hope I do better when not sick)
Relevant coursework: real analysis, econometrics, data analysis, C++, Java, Stata, some R, Matlab, linear algebra, differential equations, and stats obviously, intermediate macro and micro, discrete modeling
Research experience: worked under a PolitSci professor doing some data analysis for 1 semester... plan on getting more experience
Research Interests: Quantitative Statistics heavy marketing
I, however, have no letters of recommendation lined up yet... I just want to know if I am on track to becoming a good candidate because I have not seen that many profiles as math heavy as my own and also would like to know which schools I should be looking into? (preferably in the US)
Anyways, I would appreciate everyone's thoughts on this matter. Thank you so much.
