  1. If you can get a LOR from a Chicago professor (preferably be RA) and to succeed in Chicago core PhD courses I think you can go into the top10. It looks better than other MA programs.

  8. You need to wait and hope that many applicants will decline Northwestern and go to Stanford,Chicago,Harvard,MIT,Princeton...
  9. Chicago is top 5, see placements in Chicago's website and compare to other top 10.. What other options you have??

  11. You should not retake. No one care aboust AWA. 3.5 is ok.
  12. The school has a history of placing students in the US. (not sure about the recommender). and it is very rigor. (math department ranked high top 50 in shanghai ranking) my RA prof was my thesis advisor. (well known game theorist) and he writes rec.

Concerns: not the best grades, not sure about the quality of LOR execpt the one from thesis advisor, Applying to: 10-20 range and some t10 What do you think?
