I got this passage from one of my friends and he wants to know the grade according to TOEFL 6-point scale. Plants can provide food, shelter, clothing, or medicine. This is true that plants can provide food, clothing and medicine. There are different kinds of plants which can be found in my country - Hong Kong. Hong Kong is located at a tropical area. The good weather and climate allow most plants to grow. But the most important plant in Hong Kong is "Rose" because of its multi-advantage aspects on food, special events and chinese medicine. First, chinese people like to drink tea. Therefore, dried rose becomes one of the favors in tea families. Rose not only can be used on tea culture, but it can also use to make other kinds of food such as baking bread. Rose can use for refreshness and relaxation so bakers like to make bread with rose favor. Second, roses can be used in most of special events such as wedding and proposal. Rose has a literally equivalent meaning to romance. There are a lot of legends and chinese romantic stories also including roses. Third, chinese medicine consists of different kinds of plants. Rose is one of the important gradients in chinese medicine. One of the chinese scientists stated that rose can act as a oxidized agent to reduce high blood pressure, heart attack as well as increase blood circulation. Some western scientists also claimed that roses can help for relaxation and brain refreshness. In sum, there are many different plants can be found in Hong Kong. I did the TSE last Saturday and all my American friends said I should have no trouble to speak. However, I think i didnt do well on TSE because its my 1st time to take the test and I am not familiar it. The test is pretty fast and dont allow me to have time to think and organize what i want to say. I want to know is that hard to get 50/60. 60 means the person who "almost always" effective on the communication skill. 50 means the person who can generally effective on the communication skill. 40 means the person who just somewhat effective on the communication skill. Can you please tell me the meaning of "generally"? Do I need to response all the questions in order to get 50/60. Who is going to rate TSE? Americans or ESL teachers?
