  1. I don't know where you are living,if you are close to NYC,you consider taking pre mfe program in baruch college. It is not expensive and it is a great school.Further,if you are interested in behavioral, you can pursue a master in cognitive science.
  2. You are right but in my opinion phd student has to be expert in one field when he finished his degree.
  3. How many hours are you stduying in a regular day?Are you coping with numbers or reading articles most of the time?
  4. What makes the behavioral finance tough?I know the demand for behavioral finance faculties is low, most universities don't show an interest in this area; however I believe it will improve in the following years.
  5. Thank you all guys.I really appreciate your thoughts. My master courses are not though, but projects take a lot of time. However,I prefer to make researches and write a thesis statement istead of doing the excel work.I mean, dealing with the same thing each day is not for me but a research world is huge and there is always something waiting to be discovered which dedicates me to the Phd.Nevertheless,to develop a great interest is not sufficent. As some of you said,I think I need a research experience then I can give a better decision.
  6. Do you mean the one considering to apply for Phd must be addicted to it?
  7. Hello guys; I am currently in MS Finance and consider to apply Phd in Finance programs especially in Europe. However,I am not sure Phd in Finance is right for me.Frankly,I want to study behavioral/cognitive part of the field. At first,I thought going with behavioral economics but I figured out it is most probably not for me.What do you think about the core courses in first 2 years.I mean are they applicable to real world cases or just assumptions/theories?How hard are they when you compare to the master courses?I love researching and teaching but I don't think they are enoug to be succed in Phd. I need your comments...
  8. I am really happy to see many people is interested in my post and appreciate all the comments. However,I didn't either want to make strong comments or offend anyone. If I did,I am so sorry about that.Second,my goal is right now to figure out how the lessons and the atmosphere in Phd, hereby realize it is for me or not.
  9. Thank you.Although I have bachelors in Economics,I am still crawling:)
  10. I don't believe any rational individiuals exists. All humanbeings tend to make mistakes especially when they have lack of experience.By the way, thank you I will search Matt Rabin.
  11. I respect your opinions and you are right I have lack of knowledge of structure. However, when I read Kahneman's or Moore's articles(behavioral economics) it comes extremely practical for me and I can easily apply to real life.I don't know whether it is necessity or not sticking with theories.Maybe, the theory in Phd differenciates what I learnt in my undergraduate.
  12. Thank you guys for your responses.Of course I have to learn advanced micro and macro but I have heard that some professors focus on proofs a lot.Instead of dealing with proofs or old classical/keynesian theories I would like to deal with game theory, consumer behavior and new discoveries in monetary policy.
  13. I took B.A. in Economics and almost finish MS in Finance.I have frankly interest in macro economy/monetary policy and cognitive psychology, however I don't want to deal with useless theories.
  14. Hello guys; I consider to apply for Phd Economics but I don't show big interest in studying theories in entire period of my degree.I want to focus on behavioral economics especially in 3rd and last year.D you have any idea which schools can give this opportunity to me?Further,am i obliged to study theories first and second year? Thanks
