1. BGSE recently updated their website with the course options for 14-15 academic year (Courses - Master in Economics - Barcelona GSE), which is more than a slight modification from the previous year (see pic below). I accepted the offer based on their reasonable program structure..and now they changed it...Can they do this?! (yes.) bye-bye Real Analysis (Math for Econ and Finance)... Thoughts on the new structure?
2. I have been going through posts in this forum but still would hope someone (maybe recent graduates) could shed light on either program. BGSE offered me full tuition waiver, but I can't seem to convince myself to go for it. I am a bit concerned about the teaching quality (some past students described some of the professors as "completely incomprehensible") and the doability of compressing the courseload into nine months. As of Bocconi, I kept hearing good things about it, but it seems ambivalent whether the program is ideal for non-Italians to attend. Cost-concerns aside, which program would you prefer if final goal is US PhD? What about chances of landing a RA position after completing either program? Any response will be appreciated!
3. I dont think my Bocconi ESS decision regarding funding will come before the first payment deadline for BGSE. I am not sure how i would compare the two programs if both unfunded. What do u guys think? Am i justified to forfeit the unfunded BGSE offer betting on scholarship at Bocconi?
4. What would those be? I know Bocconi is one.
5. Thanks pch! That makes sense. Have you solved the BGSE vs. Bocconi dilemma?
6. 1) Bocconi does not require LORs?? 2) Does it make sense to apply to both MSc Economics AND MSc Econometrics at Tilburg, or are the admission criteria similar enough for these two programs that it only makes sense to choose one that I prefer? Hope someone can answer. Thanks guys!
7. I haven't seen any rejection, which is why I'm not optimistic about an "on hold" status. I submitted my application right before the January deadline just FYI.
8. How to do that? (Sorry if it's a silly question.)
9. I got the email yesterday around noon GMT.
10. Waitlisted ("on hold") by Cambridge MPhil. Does anyone know the entering class size of the programme?
11. a) PhD placements of master graduates from the recent decade can be found here: Alumni Doctoral Study - Barcelona GSE (Edit: On a second thought, I don't think that's what you're asking.)
12. I wish I'm on waitlist at one of them so i can tell you to accept the offer at the other.
13. If they mean ALL decisions, that is rather soon. I should get myself mentally prepared...:verydrunk: Thanks for the info! Fingers crossed. :)
14. For those who applied to Cambridge MPhil and got accepted/ rejected, how long did you wait for the result?
15. Hi, thanks for your comment! For personal reasons I won't consider Canandian programs. Wish you the best of luck, too!
