  1. Hello, I applied but still have not received any decision from Purdue, U North Carolina-CH, Vandy. Is there anyone facing same situation? I contacted their DGS and they all told me to wait. But it is close to April 15. Anyone know what's happening about these schools? Thanks!
  2. Hello everyone, I am a new member to urch and I find this forum is fantastic and helpful. First I want to make congratulations to all those who get admissions. And I need your advice for choosing school, please help~ I got admission from Claremont Graduate University and Clemson University, both Econ PhD. Although I have done some research on these two programs, there are not very abundant info, especially for CGU. So I really need some advice for choosing school, any suggestion will be greatly appreciated, especially from those who know these programs well. And my main concerns are listed below: 1)funding: my family is not rich so funding really matters, both school provide me similar funding amount, but CGU do not have tuition waiver, and California's living expense is much higher than SC. So go to CGU mean greater financial pressure. I am wondering is it possible to get a TA/RA position in CGU to waive the tuition? and CGU tell me that they only give TA/RA shortly before fall semester begins. Also is it possible to get a part-time job in CGU to cover some expense? 2) ranking and placement: both are not in T50, but CGU's ranking is higher and their placement seems to be better... I am not sure about the difference when comparing after-50 programs. 3)research interest: my interests are: econometrics, game theory, IO, financial economics. Also, I keep an open mind on most fields. Maybe I will decide my field on 1st year. I am concerned about how well the professor will care about their student, especially for advising, thesis, and job market. 4) living comfortability and safety: I am an international and not familiar with these two campus, so I am concerned about the living environment and safety of these two area, if you happen to know these area well or you have been there, please give me some advice. 5) career target: both academic and industry is acceptable to me, honestly I cannot say which one I desire more right now. Thank you guys! Any opinion regarding to above points will be helpful to me, and any advice of school choosing is appreciated!
