I plan to enroll in MA econ at UT Austin. The program is the advanced theory track. It's no research or thesis that student can do. I am wondering that there are any problems if I do not deal with any research experiences in the master level. My long term plan is pursuing Phd in next 2-3 years. However, Phd plan is uncertain. I am also interested in working in consulting firm. Are there anything wrong in working consulting firm with non-thesis master degree.

Hi, I am an international student and a government scholar. I just got offers from AEDE, MSPE and MA Econ at UT Austin. My long term goal is pursuing Phd in Top 20. My field interest is development economics. However, I need to work 2-3 years after finishing master degree because of the scholarship condition. Which one is best preparing for Phd ? and Do you think which school of better in terms of courses, faculty and campus environment ? Thank you
