Hi sb29, Thank you for your answer. That is definately an issue - RA'ing might be doable, but TA'ing is obviously impossible. Is it standard to both do TA'ing and/or RA'ing all the way through the ph.d.; also in the 3rd and 4th year?

Hi guys, Do you think ph.d. programs would allow a model, where I would be 100% present on campus for the first couple of years, and then move back to my home country for the last 2-3 years of thesis writing doing counseling via Skype and coming back to campus as needed, e.g. every second month? Have you heard people having had experience with doing this? Or not being allowed? I'm living in Europe, so right now I am looking all the better programs across Europe (LBS, Insead etc.) I look forward to your comments and thoughts
