  1. Could you please explain why Stern is better for US job placement? Is this because US schools prefer PhD from US schools?
  2. Hi everyone, I am trying to decide between INSEAD (dept. of entrepreneurship) and NYU (strategy). Does anyone have information on which school may be better in terms of job placement, research, culture, etc.? In terms of research, I am very much interested in the topic of entrepreneurship, networks, etc. Thank you so much in advance!
  3. Hi, I got an offer from PhD in Entrepreneurship. The program seems relatively smaller than Strategy or OB departments, but there are plenty of good professors in the department. Assuming that the quality of education that I get is on par with other departments, are there any advantages/disadvantages of having a degree from this department as opposed to others (i.e. Management or Strategy) for job placement? I am debating between two schools - one in Management and one in Entrepreneurship - and I am more inclined to attend the school with the Entrepreneurship program, but I want to know if there are any disadvantages of having a degree that is specific to Entrepreneurship. Thank you!
  4. Hey! I just had the interview. How was yours? Did they mention the timeline?
  5. I noticed that some schools require just 2 recommendations. Is it okay if I submit one more or would admission think negatively of this? Thanks in advance.
  6. I have 2 LoRs (both from economic professors. I did research with one and did well in class in another) but I am torn between who I should ask for the third one. 1) Professor that I did TA with (helped develop syllabus). I took a class with her but got B. I am pretty close to her and she agreed to write a recommendation for me. 2) Professor in the independent research class. Not very close to him. I sent him an email but he has not responded back. The second professor has not responded back to my email for a month. Do you think I should email him again and try to get a recommendation from him or just get a recommendation from the first professor? I really appreciate your input. Thanks!
  7. Hi, I am planning to apply to a few master programs in case I do not get into phd programs for management and entrepreneurship. Here's my list of master programs that I am considering: Stanford Statistics Stanford Management Science and Engineering Harvard Statistics Columbia Statistics Columbia Quantitative Methods in Social Science Columbia Management Science and Engineering I have an Econ background from a top 5 school and work experience from a tech company after graduation. Because I did Econ in my undergrad, I am not pursuing Master in Econ. I would also like to do my master in or nearby a relatively vibrant city. Has anyone heard good/bad things about the programs listed above? Any other recommendations for me? Thanks a lot in advance.
  8. Hi everyone, I recently started researching and preparing for the Phd programs. Could you evaluate my profile and give me any feedback? Basic Info: Permanent resident in the US. Female. Education: 3.67/4.0 from an Ivy League, majoring in Economics with concentration on Econometrics and Macroeconomics. Took classes such as Linear Algebra, Advanced Calculus, Graduate level Macroeconomics and graduate level Econometrics. GRE: V164(93%), Q168(97%), AW4.0 Work Experience: 1.5 years of experience as a Business Analyst in a top tech company. Our company is data oriented so the work involves a lot of big data and regression analysis. Research Experience: 3 research papers from graduate level Econ classes. Presidential Scholar within the Econ department. RA for two Econ professors. Target Schools: Stanford, Harvard, Chicago, UPenn, Northwestern, Columbia, MIT, UCLA, USC, Duke, NYU. Research Interest: Management & Entrepreneurship Based on the information provided, do you think I have a chance at the target school listed above? Additionally, I am worried that my low GPA will hurt my acceptance to top Phd programs. Do you think having a Master will significantly help my chance of being accepted to a good Phd program? Or should I not bother? If you would recommend Master, what kind of programs would you recommend? Since I am a newbie to the world of Phds, I really appreciate any input you have for me. Thank you so much in advance.
