  1. Thanks. OA is D. With plural similarity it holds good. Thank you again guys.
  2. This is the clarification to be noted alongwith others point of view. Thanks deepak.
  3. OA is D. But my question is why not E? Here is my explanation of picking E - A,B,C - faulty parallel construction between "price" and "model". Out of option D and option E, option E is better one. Now the explanation says that for option E "that had been on' is unnecessary and changes the meaning (we want the price of not on the model). Can anybody further comment on the last part of the explanation.
  4. OA is D. Can someone explain why C is not preferred?
  5. A and B has got pronoun reference problem. Out of C, D and E, I've chosen C. Here goes the offical explanation, but still a bit confusing. C - No. Meaning. Is the award for the installation process or for the fact that they installed the ramps? It's not for the physical process of installing the ramps, so eliminate the answer choice. Also, "well before local law requrered" what? D - Yes. Meaning. The award is for the fact that they installed the ramps, rather than the ramps themselves or the installation of the ramps. E - No. "well before local law requrered" what? Now what is the problem for not choosing option E as it was my second pick.
  6. Sorry mates, a typographical error from my part in option E E) the western earthquake has been found Now please have a go with your explanation. Feel the same for your inconvenience.
  7. Yes A has got problem. But for option D, can we put comma before and like this? Also what's wrong with option E as my second choice was that.
  8. Then how will you explain 'coming' for option C. Inoriginal sentence simple past was used. For that reason I opted for D. Can you clear me please.
  9. In an effort to reduce costs and increase profits, a parent company reviewed the account books of thirty of its franchises and found six franchises that had the same ration of profits to revenues in 1990 as they had in 1970. The parent company then concluded that these six franchises should serve as examples for those franchises that want to keep their ration of profits to revenues stable over the years. Which of the following, if true, most seriously weakens the author's conclusion that these six franchises are best suited to the role described above? A) Most franchises want to increase their ratio of profits to revenues. B) Most franchises are more concerned with profits alone than with the ratio of profits to revenues. C) Each of the six franchises deals with its customers in different ways. D) Of the six franchises, three had a much smaller, and three had a much larger, ratio of profits to revenues in 1980 than in 1990. E) The profits of the six franchaises range from 25 percent to 40 percent of their revenues.
  10. The cost of renovating a house can be dramatically cut by restructuring the interior with sturdy low-cost materials, rather than by simply making cosmetic changes with more expensive materials. Those contracting companies hired to undertake renovations, therefore, would save money by purchasing only sturdy, low-cost materials to use in their work. The suggestion above rests on the assumption that A) people who hire contracting companies may choose what type of materials are used in their renovations B) any house can be successfully renovated using only expensive materials C) the cost of materials is the primary financial burden of a contracting company D) any renovation of a house can be accomplished by restructuring the interior with low-cost, sturdy materials E) not all houses need major renovations
  11. Each decrease of 10 percent in the deductable of a health insurance policy will increase the length of the tenure of an employee hired at that time, all other factors being equal. For instance the NMP corporation, only in the years 1974 through 1977 did the deductable of the health insurance policy increase, and the workers hired in those years stayed with the company an average of five years, as compared with the average employee's tenure of 15 years. Which of the following can be most reasonably concluded from the statements above? A) When a company increase the deductable of its health insurance, its employees will be unhappy. B) Companies should secure health insurance with a very small deductable. C) A company's highest priority should be to have affordable health insurance deductables. D) A decrease in a company's health insurance deductable is a way of improving that company's financial health. E) The length of an employee's tenure may be influenced by factors other than the type of job or the work environment.
  12. Find nothing wrong with option A. It is A.
  13. My pick is D. Option A suffers from tense problem 'suffers'. option B has awkward wording - 'were what accounted for...coming'. Option C and E lacks in maintaining the parallel tense form by placing 'coming'. Whereas option D maintains modificatio rule and parallel tense form by placing 'came'.
  14. In 1990, a charitable foundation presented the local branch of a national chain of grocery stores with a humanitarian award for wheelchair access ramps that it had installed well before law required. A) wheelchair access ramps that it had installed well before law required B) wheelchair access ramps that had been installed well before law required it C) the installation of wheelchair access ramps well before local law required D) having installed wheelchair access ramps well before local law required them E) having installed wheelchair access ramps well before local law required
