Spend reasonable time on your SoP - customize it as per the college you are applying to 2. Apply only to schools where there is a strong fit between your research interests and the kind of research going on in the school 3. 325+ in GRE is a safe bet 4. Apply widely - business school admissions are highly competitive (only 2-3 admits per department)
  2. XA .... Your posts have been a tension reliever for most of us I guess .... Thank you so much for the wealth of information on minor and major issues that you have provided to us from time to time ....
  3. A couple of interviewers ask you what are the colleges to which you have applied? Is it ok to take a few (3-4) names or is it better to say I am not uncomfortable in sharing the names?
  4. Any operations management seniors / fellow urchins here who have faced interviews in the past? Any inputs on your past experiences, types of questions asked? Thanks......
  5. Thanks for your inputs. This does help a lot !
  6. I just hope my interview doesn't get so technical .. as I don't remember much stuff from my supply chain classes ... except for bullwhip effect and buyback contracts (I recalled these terms today primarily because they were used in one of the papers that I was reading) !
  7. Even i dont really recall what Kanban systems are ! Though I remember stuff about Kaizen :-) Thanks for your inputs !
  8. Hi Seniors / Fellow Urchers with interview experience, I have two questions with respect to interviews:- 1. What is the kind of technical questions that one can expect during an interview? Will the profs. dig deeper into any of the research papers that we have read? or will it be more of a summary and "your understanding / key takeaways" kind of questions? 2. Will we be asked any stuff about the subjects studied by us during our earlier coursework? Say I have applied to the operations management stream and my research interests lie around supply chain management & quality management which also happens to be few of the subjects covered by me in my earlier degrees. So will the interviewers be digging deeper into my knowledge of these subjects? Any advice on these fronts will be highly appreciated. Thanks!
  9. Try watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S TV series .. It's a good distraction!
  10. Hey Congrats on the offer ! I guess this is the first acceptance offer of the season. Would you mind sharing the names of the 3 other universities from which you have received interview calls? Congrats again ! Thanks.
  11. Approximately how much time does one get between the receipt of an interview call and the actual interview? 2-3 days or more or less?
  12. Even I got an e mail from one of the universities to which I had applied stating that they haven't yet received my GRE scores. They asked me to send an email copy of my gre scores. This happened day before yesterday and the deadline for submitting the application was January 5. I had requested ets to send my scores to this university on November 5 itself. Certainly a stress addition !
  13. Thanks XA .. Its certainly a little difficult to keep one's calm during this period !
