  1. I vote for Florida. Florida is renown for its research in corporate finance. Texas A&M U is more specialized in asset pricing. As for placement, based on what I heard from my friends, Texas A&M>Florida>Drexel
  2. Thank you. I agree that if we did not bomb in the interview we will have the chance. I assume that the enrollment/admission ratio is about 1.5, from what I found from several schools' websites. Applicants of this year are fewer than last year, so I guess that the ratio will be higher. Anyway, I hope all of us receive good news soon.
  3. Would you mind if I asking how many interviews you have got? I heard that this would be a lucky year for all of us, but for applicant like me, who did not get offers from schools interviewed me, is the chance great?
  4. Thank you very much! I am checking on their website.
  5. Thank you very much for the information you provided. I checked their website, the deadline is 2/4, did you receive email from them about the extended deadline? Thanks.
  6. Where is the post? I could not find it and could you help me with the link? Thank you!
  7. Hi all, This year does not seem to be a good year for me. I still have not received any offers yet and I am planning to apply to more programs. Have anyone known finance phd programs that have not passed its deadlines yet? I am not limiting my applications to US schools and now I am quite open to any opportunities. Could you give me some suggestions? Thank you!
  8. Hi all, I am anxious waiting for results because I have not received any offers yet and it is early March. I think most schools have sent out their interviews or offers. There are only several schools I have not heard from and cannot find information on gradcafe. Have anyone heard from Syracuse, University of Massachusetts Amherst, SUNY Buffalo or Univ. of Houston (all for Finance PhD 2016)? Please share the information with me, because I am going to consider what to do in the next months.
  9. Thanks for your reply! It is really helpful. I majored in mathematical finance in college, and I was on BU's waiting list last year without an interview, and was then rejected. I still doubt if I should reapply this year? As for CUNY and SUNY, thanks! I will remove them from my list, abundant financial assitance is really important for me.
  10. Yes, I agree, and I will remove Florida State from my list. (I fell pity because there are two current phd students from Xiamen University)
  11. Hi, I am applying to phd finance for 2016 fall, and I am making my school list, I wonder if you could help evaluate my profile and commend on my school list? Interests: Asset pricing, especially in derivatives Here is my school list: Pittsburgh, Temple, BU, Houston, Miami, CUNY Baruch, SUNY Buffalo, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri-Columbia, Drexel, Florida State, Massachusetts-Amherst, Syracuse, Lehigh, Arizona and UTD Thanks, I would appreciate your replies!
  12. Good idea. I think I could find some English conversation clubs since I will work in a big city. I also plan on English training program in the evening.
  13. I took the research internship. I read their papers and faculty list. Their publications are very good and faculty members are from renown institutions. I hope I could find the opportunity to set up close relationship with one of them. But I do not think I could be co-author for their work :( I will find a way to improve my English. In addition, part of the research internship requires English reading and data searching. Thanks for your suggestions!
